Wellbeing for Employees and the Community
The new site will be operated on a 24-hour basis, with compact 8.5-hour shifts and flexible working patterns that strives to accommodate every employee’s life circumstances, including childcare.
Ball will support healthy transport options to and from the site, including walking and cycling, car-sharing and electric charging. We’re fully committed to diversity and inclusion and will be running pre-employment training programmes for local communities to expand opportunities for people to join our company.
Championing Sustainability
Aluminium cans are the world’s most recycled beverage package, averaging 82% in the UK. The Kettering can-making plant will be the most advanced can-making facility ever constructed, producing the world’s most metal-efficient can with a reduction up to 5% of aluminium, demanding 20% less energy, and consuming 70% less water than a traditional can-making process. The plant is being built according to the industry-leading BREEAM Sustainability and Environmental Standard.
In 2020, Ball became the world’s first can maker to achieve Aluminium Stewardship Initiative certification, across all existing 23 plants in Europe, Middle East and Africa. Ball’s climate change plan has been certified by the Science Based Targets Initiative.
