Key responsibilities include:

  1. Complies with established job safety practices, policies and procedures as specified in plant and corporate directives for the safe performance of the work assignment;
  2. Supports and follows the guidelines of the food safety system;
  3. Troubleshoots, repairs, installs, erects, moves and/or dismantles all types of machinery and auxiliary production equipment;
  4. Inspects job site and equipment to be dismantled, erected or move; analyzes blueprints and schematics;
  5. Selects and transports tools, machinery, and materials needed for assignment;
  6. Fabricates sheet metal and structural units as needed; guarding, steps, stairs, conveyors, elevators, and platforms and sets in place;
  7. Splices ropes and cables as required;
  8. Performs preventative maintenance for building and grounds as necessary;
  9. Maintains all shop tools and equipment;
  10. Performs clean-up, painting, and housekeeping duties;
  11. Communicates pertinent information to next shift;
  12. Directs efforts of contract labor on specific assignments;
  13. May be required to go to customer(s) to troubleshoot equipment and/or finished cans;
  14. Initiates, reviews, and follows all standard operating procedures (SOP) for area of responsibility;
  15. Establishes and maintains effective work relations within the department, the division, the group, and the company. Includes ability to handle stress and to interact with others so as to establish and maintain a positive and productive work environment and minimize personal conflicts;
  16. Required to work assigned schedule or hour shirts, rotating days and night, Monday through Sunday, working hours may vary as specified by management. Incumbent must be able to work overtime on a regular basis and/or be on call as directed by management;
  17. Regular and predictable attendance is required between the assignment start and end times of work;
  18. Performs duties without posing a direct threat to anyone or to property. Direct threat is defined as a significant risk of substantial harm that cannot be eliminated or reduced to an acceptable  level by reasonable accommodation;
  19. Assurances and maintains safe and healthful working conditions while enforcing safety rules and regulations;
  20. Ability to work independently within parameters set by management;
  21. Ability to communicate effectively, write effectively, read, comprehend, and follow complicated verbal and written instructions;
  22. Ability to meet the knowledge, skills, abilities, physical requirements, and working conditions set forth in this position description;
  23. Communicates with the Emergency Coordinator (EC) or Environmental Focal Point (EFP) regarding environmental management activities;
  24. Understands and responds effectively to EC directions during emergencies by being familiar with emergency procedures, equipment, and systems, as necessary. Implements contingency plan to the level required by the position;
  25. Understands, completes, and maintains environmental documentation for which the individual is trained, or as directed EC or EFC. Reports to the EC, EFP or Engineering Manager (EM) on the status of assigned responsibilities;
  26. Recognizes waste streams and minimizes waste generation, through prudent use of materials, proper disposal and segregation as directed during training or by the EC, EFP/EM. Understands and practices proper accumulation and storage requirements for wastes;
  27. Complies with environmental regulations when using, dispensing, or handling hazardous and non-hazardous materials and wastes.
  28. Implement ISO standard or other similar international standard if any.

Knowledge and experience required:

  • Diploma in engineering or maintenance.
  • Minimum 3 years job-related experience.
  • Ability to apply independent evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria;
  • Possesses general carpentry skills;
  • Ability to use hand and power tools;
  • Ability to perform basic plumbing and piping;
  • Fluency in Myanmar language.
  • Ability to communicate in English.
  • Able to work in a team
