Primary Purpose of the Position:
Performs tasks and provides services to support the plant's production goals, overall business plans and objectives as directed.
Essential Responsible Areas:
- Complies with established job safety practices, policies and procedures as specified in plant and corporate directives for the safe performance of the work assignment.
- Supports and follows the guidelines of the food safety system.
- Operates forklift during routine performance of duties.
- Prepares documentation for incoming and outgoing materials and finished goods.
- Maintains accurate files, records, and logs of incoming and outgoing materials.
- Coordinates and trains plant personnel in warehouse duties.
- Develops and maintains efficient procedures for receiving incoming materials, stock storage location plan, stock storage allocation, first-in first-out (FIFO) material usage and product usage. Keeps current accounting of materials and finished goods.
- Coordinates with the supervisor and line scheduler the establishment of methods involving personnel, equipment, area use and space allocation, maintenance, material handling, safety and environmental procedures, loading and unloading trucks, spoilage, damage, methods of handling scrap and waste materials, drum storage, labeling and identification, accounting and reporting methods, and training.
- Conducts inspection of materials used for packaging, inspects trailers and air bags, and monitors for abuse of equipment.
- Unloads, receives, inspects, and stages raw materials, scrap, dunnage, packaging materials, chemicals, and other supplies.
- Removes finished products from the production areas ensuring proper identification, banding, and labeling to meet customer specifications.
- Weighs coil stock and prepares it for production.
- Responsible for replenishing supplies in assigned areas.
- Ensures finished goods are properly documented for shipment.
- Stages and loads finished goods in accordance with warehouse production control schedule.
- Coordinates all processed scrap materials at briquetter, hoppers, and gondolas. Bands, weighs, stores, and loads trucks as necessary.
- Conducts inspection of and routine preventative maintenance on assigned equipment
Position Requirement & competencies:
- High School Diploma or education equivalent required.
- Job-related experience for 3 years minimum.
- Ability to apply independent evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard warehousing techniques, procedures, and criteria.
- Must be able to handle sensitive related and proprietary information in a confidential manner. Performs such individual assignments as management may direct.
- Must follow company policies, procedures, practices, and standards of conduct as outlined in the Ball Corporation manuals.
- Maintains an awareness and complies with hazardous waste management and other environmental management requirements in the workplace by attending scheduled training sessions.
- Possesses good organizational, communication, and leadership abilities.
- Ability to operate and functionally use a computer.
- Ability to pass an approved forklift test.
- Required on-the-job and classroom training.
- Must maintain professional competence, ethical integrity, knowledge, and skills.
- Working knowledge of the following areas: forklift maintenance and operation; rules and regulations for handling batteries or LP gas tanks; nomenclature of assigned equipment
Compensation & Benefits
- Hourly Rate: $31.46
- This role will be eligible to participate in the annual incentive compensation plan.
