Position Overview:
As the Import/Export Specialist, you will be a key member of the Logistics team, reporting to the Logistics Manager. In this role, you will contribute to Ball’s success by ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely customs and transport documentation for all inbound and outbound goods. You will work closely with internal teams, customs authorities, suppliers, and carriers to support smooth, legally compliant cross‑border operations.
Your Key Responsibilities Include:
- Preparing and checking all required customs and transport documents in line with legal regulations.
- Sending customs documentation on time to carriers, customers, suppliers, and other partners.
- Coordinating daily with customs authorities, carriers, and warehouse providers about planned transports and customs clearance for CH/AT/CH traffic.
- Verifying import documents and customs duties provided by suppliers and correcting them according to applicable regulations.
- Supporting the team by covering business hours for goods receipt and goods issue.
- Handling and resolving customs‑related complaints in a timely manner.
- Working with the control customs office (KZS St. Margrethen) on spot checks for incoming and outgoing goods.
- Communicating with carriers to ensure timely and correct customs clearance documentation.
- Preparing and renewing necessary permits and maintaining proper records of all clearances.
- Preparing documentation for inward processing and keeping up to date with VAT, customs law, customs duties, and customs procedures.
What Are We Looking For?
- Completed training as a customs declarant with a federal diploma or extensive experience as a customs declarant or within customs administration.
- Strong knowledge of customs processes and proven experience in import/export operations (experience with CH–AT–CH border traffic is an advantage).
- Good IT skills, including MS Office and SAP; familiarity with customs applications such as E‑Dec, NCTS, and relevant customs portals.
- Preferably basic knowledge of English.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to work flexibly to support team coverage when required.
