Position Overview:


As the Specialist, Spoilage for North & Central America (NCA), you’re a key member of the Technical Process Team, reporting to the Senior Manager, Operational Efficiencies (NCA).   You will contribute to the success of Ball by controlling and minimizing process, line and non-conformance spoilage in collaboration with NCA production plants.

 

Your Key Areas of Responsibilities Include: 

 

  • Develop and implement key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress, formulate action plans, and drive continuous improvement initiatives;  influence and drive Plant Managers on goals of spoilage as well cost reduction. 
  • Lead, coach and control the reduction of spoilage in all areas in the production & work on non-conformance  reduction projects. 
  • Collaborate with plants to identify opportunities and improvements in manufacturing processes to reduce spoilage, leveraging best practices and standards implementation. 
  • Map the needs of each plant and request financial resources via CapEx for new products and equipment.  
  • Work collaboratively with the Global Process / Quality and Manufacturing teams to implement and improve best practices defined as standard globally.  
  • Implement equipment changes to enhance efficiency, quality, and spoilage reduction.  
  • Support the creation of CapEx projects by defining budgets and necessary planning to optimize results. Closely monitor the evolution of results and trends, anticipating actions through analysis of indicators and strategic meetings with plants.  
  • Actively promote a culture of safety, quality, and the 5 S's in the workplace, encouraging adherence to standards and practices of excellence.   

 

Required Experience and Skills: 
 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering or other related discipline preferred. 
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in spoilage & waste optimization and reduction projects.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in problem solving activities and leading cross-functional teams and projects. 
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience influencing and coaching cross-functional teams in process optimization activities and continuous improvement activities. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft office Suite and good computer skills – ability to manage computerized data and data visualization (via PowerPoint, email, etc. ) 
  • Analytics: 
    • Technical analysis skills to evaluate and optimize spoilage potentials across production stages 
    • Experience in industrial process analysis with a systemic approach and knowledge of continuous improvement tools 
  • Leadership: 
    • Management style heavily orientated to training and coaching as well as leading and influencing cross-functional project teams and stakeholders to generate cost savings and process optimization.
  • Communication: 
    • Strong communication, coaching and leadership skills to collaborate with different departments & suppliers & stakeholders to achieve and sustain targets and objectives. 
  • Working Knowledge of: 
    • Operational excellence tools/Lean Manufacturing tools for identifying and implementing process improvements to reduce all different kinds of waste as well as spoilage in the production process  

 

Compensation & Benefits

 

  • Hiring Salary Range: $83,200-  $124,660. Salary to be determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.  
  • This position is eligible to be REMOTE in the U.S., with a home-based but prefrably close to a major airport or one of our plants due to travel (50-60 %)  requirements. While the regular working cycle of this position is usually five days  (Monday-Friday), this job may include working off-shift/weekends for project support. Working hours may vary as specified by leadership  and/or as required by project needs. Must be able to work overtime on a regular basis and/or be on call as directed by leadership.
  • This role will be eligible to participate in the annual incentive compensation plan.
