Primary Purpose of this Position:  

 

The role of the Senior Payroll Specialist is to execute end-to-end payroll processes within the Payroll workstream. This role serves as a subject matter expert in payroll operations and is accountable for resolving complex payroll issues, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, and delivering accurate and timely payroll services. The Senior Payroll Specialist collaborates closely with HR, Finance, and external vendors, leverages deep technical expertise in payroll systems and processes, and is committed to providing exceptional internal and external customer support. Additionally, the Senior Payroll Specialist demonstrates a thorough understanding of payroll policies and procedures and actively contributes to process improvement initiatives and transformation projects to drive operational excellence.

 

What will you be responsible for? 

  • Execute established operational processes within the business capability end-to-end process, following standardized procedures and guidelines.
  • Contributes to the team effort in building a high-performing team through strong collaboration, effective communication, and support in additional project work.
  • Achieves thoroughness and accuracy when accomplishing tasks by spotting inconsistencies to produce accurate work.
  • Work closely with team members to ensure seamless handoffs and collaboration throughout the process.
  • Researches issues, collects data, analyses information and/or root cause, and finds resolution to discrepancies in a timely manner.  Escalates as appropriate to different stakeholders.  
  • Acts as the primary point of contact in the execution of day-to-day tasks including answering questions, resolving issues, and providing analysis.  May act as a point of escalation for other team members.
  • Positively interacts with team members and internal/external customers to provide high-quality outcomes.
  • Takes initiative to identify inefficiencies within processes and advocates for improved efficiency, performance and quality.  Will participate and may lead process improvement exercises.
  • Adheres to organizational standards, maintains accurate records and documentation, and follows SOPs to ensure adherence to SOX and/or regulatory requirements (where applicable)

 

What are we looking for? 

  • Broad training in a related field usually acquired through a college degree level education or work-related experience
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience

 

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Strong skills in Organization, Multi-tasking, Customer Service, Effective Communication, Influence, Problem Solving.
  • Continuous improvement skills a plus
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Suite.
  • Required knowledge in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), especially in SAP/ JDE
  • In-depth understanding of shared services processes, methodologies and best practices
  • Payroll best practices, laws and regulations
  • Business Acumen: Has a keen understanding of GBS organization and quickly reacts to business situations in a manner that results inn good outcomes
  • Team Focus: Cooperatively works with others to achieve shared goals
  • Initiative: Resourceful to get things done and take pride in ownership
  • Action Orientation: Takes action on challenges and brings a can-do attitude
  • Decision Making: Uses business knowledge, analytical thinking, and judgement to make high quality decisions in complex and ambiguous circumstances
  • Technical Savvy: Keeps apprised of technology and digital advancements that enhance process improvements and outcomes

 

Compensation & Benefits:

  • This role can be based remotely in the U.S.; however, regular travel to Ball facilities may be required
  • Hiring Salary Range: $ 74,600 - $104,160 (Salary to be determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.)
  • This role will be eligible to participate in the annual incentive compensation plan.]
