Primary Purpose of the Position: 

The Senior Manager, Tax Compliance and Accounting, manages Ball’s US tax compliance and tax accounting (including the tax provision) processes in order to ensure the timely completion of all related tax filings and the annual and quarterly financial statements. The Senior Manager of Tax Compliance and Accounting also assists senior management with the identification and implementation of domestic and international tax planning strategies in order to minimize the Company’s overall effective tax rate and cash taxes.

 

Essential Responsible Areas:

  • Manage and oversee the preparation, review, and filing of the U.S. consolidated federal income tax return and related federal tax compliance requirements.
  • Lead the quarterly and annual income tax provision process and related financial statement footnote disclosures in accordance with ASC 740, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with reporting requirements.
  • Support the Director of Tax in the analysis, documentation, and reporting of uncertain tax positions under ASC 740, including quarterly and annual financial statement disclosure requirements.
  • Manage current and deferred tax calculations, review tax account reconciliations, and maintain supporting documentation to ensure accurate tax accounting and reporting.
  • Monitor and assess new and emerging federal tax legislation, regulatory developments, and guidance, evaluating potential impacts to the organization and implementing necessary compliance and reporting changes.
  • Support tax forecasting, accounting, compliance, business development, and legal initiatives by providing technical tax guidance and analysis.
  • Support senior tax leadership for mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and other strategic transactions, including due diligence, structuring considerations, and post-acquisition integration activities.
  • Monitor corporate finance activities, including foreign currency transactions, derivatives, hedging activities, and other complex business transactions, identifying and addressing tax implications to optimize the company's overall tax position.
  • Assist senior tax leadership with federal tax planning initiatives, evaluating opportunities to enhance tax efficiency while maintaining compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop federal income tax team members, fostering technical excellence, continuous improvement, and execution of tax compliance, accounting, and planning responsibilities.

 

Position Requirement & Competencies:

  • Broad training in a related field usually acquired through high school; college or graduate degree level education or work-related experience
  • Job related experience for 5 year(s) minimum
  • Certifications/Licenses/Other: Certified Public Accountant, preferred

 

Skills:

  • CorpTax or other tax preparation and provision software experience
  • Experience leveraging Alteryx to automate tax compliance, tax provision, data validation, and reporting processes.

Knowledge:

  • Strong tax technical knowledge in all areas of U.S. federal corporate income tax

 

Compensation & Benefits: 

  • Expected Hiring Salary Range:  $115,000 - $164,300  (Salary to be determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.)

  • Hybrid On-Site Work Environment: Based in Colorado, this position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site for three (3) or more work days per work week (with core collaboration days of Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday). [Travel and local commute between Ball locations and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.]
