Position Overview:
As a Senior Buyer for Logistics, you are a key member of the Logistics Procurement team, reporting to the Director, Logistics Sourcing and Supply Management & Execution. You will contribute to the success of Ball by ensuring that goods and services are procured as necessary to ensure supply for the region and plants and responsible for the strategic and tactical management of coil logistics.
Your Key Areas of Responsibility Include:
- Subject matter expert and a point of contact for questions and issues relating to the buying processes for the stakeholders in their location.
- Lead the category management lifecycle process for coil logistics and freight /warehousing as needed.
- Participate in the supplier management process by assessing and evaluating suppliers, contributing to performance reviews, and working with suppliers on a daily basis to resolve price, quality, or delivery issues and expedite orders when necessary.
- Provide buying support for Category Management teams and production plants to ensure that services are procured for the organization.
- Review incoming purchase requisitions to ensure that the necessary documentation, specifications, attachments, etc., are included and conduct and necessary follow ups; enter purchase orders into ERP systems and ensure that the process for approval is complete and accurate; heavy involvement with PO lifecycle management activities, such as PO conversion, PO troubleshooting, reporting for expiring or aged POs, PO administration, clean up, and close out.
- Support Category Managers with spend analytics and requirements gathering by executing best-in-class processes.
- Develop a view of the balance between supply and demand and actively monitors market conditions on an ongoing basis in order to make informed decisions.
- Develop and evaluate “go to market” strategies for select categories and achieve creative commercial outcomes through negotiation planning and successful execution.
- Identify and present process improvement opportunities.
- Proactively report progress against regional sourcing goals/for the specified period.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent job related experience or training in buying or procurement.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in procurement, planning or logistics.
- Good understanding of the procure-to-pay process and procurement-related policies, procedures, processes and risks, and the ability to apply that understanding to daily work.
- Strong knowledge with advanced digital/AI tools in business intelligence (e.g. Tableau, Qlik, Power BI).
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, ERP systems (such as: JDE, Procure-To-Pay systems).
- Experience with eProcurement systems, and online portal/market tools.
- Strong communication and interpersonal and effective negotiation skills.
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 30% (domestically and internationally).
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Advanced degree such as Master’s degree.
- Certifications such as CPM, CPSM , CPSC or PMP .
- Experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) .
Compensation & Benefits:
- Expected Hiring Salary Range: $75,400 - $105,290 (Salary to be determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.)

- Hybrid On-Site Work Environment: Based in Colorado, this position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site for three (3) or more work days} per work week (with core collaboration days of Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday). Travel and local commute between Ball locations and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.
