Position Overview:


As the Specialist, Coasting for North and Central America (NCA)   you’re a key member of the Global Quality Team, reporting to the Manager, Materials and Qualifications (NCA). You will contribute to the success of Ball by supporting global technical expertise in coatings (IC, OV, Ink) and execute region qualifications with global alignment, ensuring accountability of suppliers and plants, mitigating risk, and accelerating technology adoption. 

 

Your Key Areas of Responsibilities Include: 

 

  • Execute the Global Coatings Qualification strategy within the region, supporting standardization and material specifications to optimize costs and enhance product quality.  
  • Execute the coating sustainability roadmap in alignment with business and customer needs while ensuring regulatory compliance within the region in alignment with global. 
  • Partner with global quality, engineering, and procurement as well as internal and external laboratory to support plant quality performance associated with coatings through BOE within region. 
  • Direct and frequent communication with all departments within region, in alignment with global, regarding quality, customer technical services, product approval, compliance. 
  • Track performance metrics for global coating suppliers within the region, ensuring transparent reporting and implementing robust audit processes to address key variables impacting supplier performance. 
  • Within the region (NCA), in alignment globally lead and coordinate the qualification of new coating suppliers, ensuring alignment with quality standards, and regulations. 
  • Support standardization of coating specifications to simplify processes, reduce costs, regionally to optimize quality, supply chain efficiency, and product performance. Drive continuous improvement activities in coating application processes. 

 

What Are We Seeking? 

 

  • HS Diploma or equivalent, with a preference toward a Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering , Chemistry or other related discipline. 
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in developing and implementing cohesive strategies for coating qualifications on a global scale. It includes standardizing protocols, optimizing costs, and enhancing product quality through strategic planning and execution.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in managing relationships with global suppliers, establishing performance metrics, conducting audits, and ensuring alignment with quality standards and regulations.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in driving sustainability initiatives, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, and managing regulatory affairs related to coating materials.
  • Demonstrated Skills: 
    • Leadership: effectively guiding teams, driving initiatives forward, and fostering collaboration across departments and regions. 
    • Organization: organization skills and attention to detail.
    • Communication: Fluent written and spoken English; ability to convey ideas, strategies, and objectives clearly to diverse stakeholders, both internally and externally. 
  • Knowledge of:
    • coating materials, processes, and technologies. 
    • relevant regulations and standards governing coatings and materials. 
    • principles and practices of supplier management is vital for optimizing relationships with global suppliers

 Compensation & Benefits

 

  • The preferred location for this role is our Westminster, CO campus; or near one of our U.S. plant locations;  but we will consider a REMOTE employee in the United States.  Relocation benefits will be considered. 
  • Hybrid On-Site Work Environment: If based in Colorado, this position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site for three (3) or more days per work week (with core collaboration days of Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday). Travel (30-40%)  and local commute between Ball locations and other possible non-Ball locations will be equired.
  • Hiring Salary Range: $ 83,200 - $116,390 (Salary to be determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.)
  • This role will be eligible to participate in the annual incentive compensation plan.
