Primary Purpose of this Position:  

Provides project management services for capital and expense projects as directed.  Project Manager is responsible for leading a team of professionals in completing projects by a set deadline to uphold business initiatives.  Duties include setting, dividing up and tracking the budget for different project aspects, ensuring equipment and service orders are placed that support overall project costs and schedules, hiring freelance professionals and selecting project team members from internal departments, plus setting and adjusting project schedules to adhere to deadlines.

 

What will you be responsible for? 

  • Ensures all personnel involved in a project, to include but limited to project team, plant personnel and contractors are aware of and adhere to all safety rules and regulations.
  • Directs activities involved with the planning and implementation of assigned projects of all types.
  • Coordinates feasibility and pre-AFE planning studies.  Gathers, analyses, organizes and presents information from the customer, manufacturing, engineering, and all other appropriate business areas.
  • Writes AFE’s and requisitions with detailed work scopes, accurate cost estimates, and clear, thorough communication of the project goals and justification.
  • Manages projects to minimize the cost required to achieve approved project objectives, effectively using Ball’s project accounting systems.  Keeps the project cost control updated by continuous reforecasting.
  • Establishes and monitors project schedules; makes use of the critical path approach to scheduling; revises project schedules as required to maintain project goals, develop responsibility plans and start-up production plans.
  • Keeps management and project team informed of project status, including progress, problems, cost, and schedule through regularly published project status reports.
  • Effectively builds and leads all disciplines of project teams, incorporating engineering, customer, and other department’s personnel.
  • Establishes engineering documentation, change order and work order controls to ensure project design and construction is in accordance with appropriate standards and meets the approved requirements for the project.
  • Extensive and innovative use of the computer for project planning and scheduling (Microsoft Project), accounting (Cost Control), organization (Action Item Lists), verbal and written communications, to keep stakeholders informed and accountable to project goals.

 

What are we looking for? 

  • Broad training in a related field, usually acquired through college or graduate degree-level education or work-related experience.
  • Minimum of 4 years experience managing manufacturing projects.
  • Financial acumen.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; leads group discussions; excellent presentation skills.
  • Effective planning, organizing, monitoring, and reviewing skills.
  • Problem solving.
  • Delegation and resource management.
  • Motivating and encouraging others.
  • Decisiveness and ability to work well under pressure.
  • Awareness of who the project will affect and managing the effect it will have on them.
  • Computer skills – Outlook, Excel, Microsoft Project, PowerPoint, Business System.
  • Industry knowledge associated with high-speed / automated production.
  • Familiarity with general construction practices.
  • Project:
    • scope definition and management.
    • schedule development and management.
    • budgeting and cost tracking / forecasting.
  • Risk management and mitigation.
  • 20%-30% travel required
  • Desired certifications (or similar):
    • PMI (Proj Mgmt Institute)

    • PMI Agile-Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP)®

    • Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)®
       

 

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Hybrid On-Site Work Environment: Based in Colorado, this position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site for three (3) or more days per work week (with core collaboration days of Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday). [Travel and local commute between Ball locations and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.]
  • Hiring Salary Range: $96,000 - $137,180 (Salary to be determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.)
  • This role will be eligible to participate in the annual incentive compensation plan.
