Primary purpose of the position:

Our future success relies on our ability to attract, develop and retain top talent. Our Internship program is designed for students enrolled in an accredited Univeristy or College who are interested in developing on-the-job skills, experiences and insights that last a lifetime. Over the course of 10 to 12 weeks, you will have opportunities to learn about several areas of our manufacturing operations, network and collaborate with Ball leaders, get involved in challenging project work, and learn what it looks like to be a leader in the organization. If successful, full-time positions may be available.

 

As a POC based intern, you will be assigned to one of the following key departments, Quality, Maintenance or Lean Manufacturing.

 

Essential Responsible Areas:

Manufacturing management interns will gain an understanding of our management routines and standards working alongside our

Colorado based teams who centrally support our plant operations. Based on what department you are assigned to, your

responsibilities will be:

Quality

  • Understand the quality standards, procedures and metrics we use to provide the highest quality cans and ends in the industry
  • Be involved in the ongoing development of our Ball Operational Excellence program for quality which sets the criteria for
  • plants to use to sustain their operation and continuously improve.
  • Visit plant(s) to assist in specific quality related projects and / or initiatives
  • Participate and Report Out/Present in other projects/on other work assignments as needed.

Maintenance

  • Understand the maintenance program standards, procedures and metrics we use to maintain our equipment in our plants.
  • Be involved in the ongoing development of our Ball Operational Excellence program for maintenance which sets the criteria for
  • plants to use to sustain their operation and continuously improve.
  • Visit plant(s) to assist in specific quality related projects and / or initiatives
  • Participate and Report Out/Present in other projects/on other work assignments as needed.

Lean Manufacturing

  • Understand the management standards, procedures and metrics we use to manage our plant including routines.
  • Be involved in the ongoing development of our Ball Operational Excellence program for plant management which sets the
  • criteria for plants to use to sustain their operation and continuously improve.
  • Visit plant(s) to assist in specific quality related projects and / or initiatives
  • Participate and Report Out/Present in other projects/on other work assignments as needed.

 

Position Requirement & Competencies:

Professional & Education Qualification: 

  • Currently pursuing and enrolled to complete a degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Operations Management or similar discipline in an accredited University or College.

Skills:

  • Strong desire to lead/manage teams
  • Strong interest in manufacturing and being part of a manufacturing/plant environment
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities (e.g. active listening, effective communication, presentations, influence, collaboration) in course work and/or extra-curricular activities/other jobs
  • Results oriented, flexible, self-motivated, and able to work in a team environment
  • Ability to analyze situations and processes, exercise good judgment and perform assignments with limited direct supervision of manager
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) or equivalent

Knowledge: 

  • Learning mindset, focus on continuous process improvement

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced 24/7 manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work anticipated work schedule: including rotating shifts to include nights and weekends, as needed.
  • Ability to travel, estimated at 10%-20%.
  • This position is not eligible for visa candidates now or in the future.

 

Applicants must be currently enrolled at an accredited college or university with Junior or Senior standning and have an anticipated graduation date of no earlier than December 2024. 

 Compensation:

$28.00 per hour 

- May be eligible for additional housing benefits
