Position Overview:
As the Manager, Regional ODM (Other Direct Materials) for Beverage Packaging North & Central America, you’re a key member of the Technical Process Team, reporting to the Sr. Manager, Technical Efficiencies. You will contribute to the success of Ball through the control and optimization of material usage, such as paints, varnishes, sealants, and oils, in collaboration with the regional production plants. You will develop and implement key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress, formulate action plans, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Your Key Areas of Responsibilities Include:
- Lead, coach and control the reduction of ODM (Other Direct Materials) materials such as inks, coatings, varnishes, etc.
- Monitor KPIs related to ODM (Other Direct Materials) materials as part of monthly review cycles, speaking to in progress actions and ongoing support efforts.
- Control performance indicators and inputs, coordinating visits, meetings, and resources to ensure the achievement of results, developing tracking methodologies with plants and affected sectors.
- Closely monitor the evolution of results and performance trends, anticipating actions through analysis of indicators and strategic meetings with plants.
- Collaborate with can and ends plants to identify opportunities and improvements in manufacturing processes.
- Map the needs of each unit and request financial resources via Capital Expenditure (CAPEx) for equipment improvement and innovation.
- Work collaboratively with the Global Process / Quality and Manufacturing team to identify and implement best practices defined as standard globally.
- Actively promote a culture of safety, environment, health, quality, and the 5 S's in the workplace, encouraging adherence to standards and practices of excellence.
- Work with suppliers to identify and evaluate innovation opportunities in current equipment/material use, new equipment/process implementation, or new methods of testing and control.
Required Experience and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Chemistry preferred or equivalent work-related experience in ODM consumption, optimization and/or reduction-related projects.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience with ODM consumption optimization and/or reduction projects.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in problem solving activities and leading cross-functional teams and projects.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in influencing and coaching cross-functional teams in process optimization activities and continuous improvement activities.
- Demonstrated Skills:
- Experience in industrial process analysis with a systemic approach and knowledge of continuous improvement tools.
- Technical and analytical skills to evaluate and optimize material usage across production stages.
- Strong communication, coaching and leadership skills to collaborate with different departments, suppliers and stakeholders to achieve and sustain targets and objectives.
- Working Knowledge of:
- Project management principles.
- Industry standards, best practice sharing and seeking guidance from outside industries.
- Identifying and implementing process improvements/best practices across a region to reduce material consumption.
Compensation & Benefits
- Hiring Salary Range: $96,000 - $137,180 (Salary to be determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.)

- The preferred location for this role is our Westminster, CO campus; but we will consider a REMOTE candidate, dependent on experience, qualifications and willingness to engage in regular travel to Colorado. Travel (50-60%)and local commute between Ball locations and other possible non-Ball locations will be required. If based in Colorado, this position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site for three (3) or more days per work week (with core collaboration days of Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday).
