Position Overview:


As an Indirect Buyer, you are a key member of the Global Procurement team; reporting to the Global Indirect Director.  You will contribute to the success of Ball  by ensuring that plants have the necessary goods and services procured to ensure a timely and trouble-free production.

 

Your Key Areas of Responsibility Include:

 

  • Monitor and manage supply and inventory for the plant and serving as the central buyer for items needed by plant personnel (PPE, Indirect, etc.) for the organization.
  • Review incoming purchase requisitions and where necessary, complete and enter purchase orders into ERP systems and ensure that the process for approval is complete and accurate.  
  • Conduct reporting for expiring or aged Purchase Order’s (PO’s), PO administration, clean up, and close out.  
  • Serve as a resource and Subject Matter Expert (SME) for questions/issues relating to buying processes for stakeholders.
  • Support Category Managers with spend analytics and requirements gathering and by executing best-in-class processes.
  • Identify and present process improvement opportunities.
  • Assess and evaluate suppliers and contribute to performance reviews.
  • Work with suppliers to resolve price, quality, or delivery issues.

 

Required Experience and Skills:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business-related discipline or equivalent education and experience.
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience in buying or similar procurement type of position.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, specifically  Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, Teams.
  • Experience creating and and manipulating basic spreadsheets and Word documents.
  • Demonstrated skills:
    • Procurement-related policies, procedures and processes.
    • Basic financial and analytical skills, and strong attention to detail.
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to influence for positive outcomes. 
    • Completing routine procurement transactions effectively, efficiently and accurately from requisition to purchase order close in a fast-paced environment.
    • Stakeholder management skills; strong interpersonal business relationship building skills.
    • Ability to work independently to meet deadlines, prioritize, organize, and multitask.
    • Ability to apply sound judgment and adapt to changing circumstances. 

 

Preferred Experience and Skills: 

 

  • Experience in a high-speed repetitive manufacturing environment.
  • Multi-lingual  desired (Spanish, Portuguese, German or others).
  • ERP systems (such Oracle, SAP ) and procure-to-pay process.
  • Familiarity with can manufacturing products, practices, terminology.

 

Compensation & Benefits

 

  • Hiring Salary Range: $66,000 - $92,200 (Salary to be determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.)
  • This role will be eligible to participate in the annual incentive compensation plan.

  • Hybrid On-Site Work Environment: Based in Westminster, CO this position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site for three (3) or more days per work week (with core collaboration days of Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday). Travel (up to 10%) and local commute between Ball locations and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.
