Position Overview:
As the Manager, Global R&D Projects, you are a key member of the R&D Engineering Team; reporting to the VP, Head of Global Innovation & Product Management. You will contribute to the success of Ball by leading priority projects within the growth portfolio, and ensure project objectives and deliverables are achieved; within scope, budget, on time, and aligned to quality expectations.
Your Key Areas of Responsibility Include:
- Lead end-to-end project management of a portfolio of global new product innovation projects, from concept through to commercialization.
- Establish and lead cross-functional teams including R&D, Strategy & Marketing, Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, procurement, and others.
- Develop integrated project timelines by consolidating plans and interdependencies across all relevant functions.
- Ensure adherence to the innovation stage gate process, facilitating gate reviews, enforcing rigor, and ensuring required deliverables are met.
- Maintain project information in the Accolade innovation portfolio management system.
- Collaborate with other project managers, functional leaders, and PMO to share best practices and improve project delivery frameworks.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of the innovation process by identifying gaps, testing new tools/templates, and helping scale learnings across the organization.
- Ensure clear and timely communication with stakeholders at all levels, adapting messaging for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Identify and mitigate risks that could negatively impact the project (regulatory, IP, technical risk, supply chain issues) and effectively course correct on projects that are off-track with proper visibility provided to upper management.
Required Experience and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or other science-related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of project management experience, including experience managing complex, cross-functional projects.
- Experience with stage gate or similar innovation/new product development processes.
- Ability to lead through influence and drive accountability across diverse teams.
- Proficiency with project management tools, such as: Accolade or other similar portfolio management software).
Preferred Experience and Skills:
- PMP certification
- Master’s degree
Compensation & Benefits
- Hiring Salary Range: $96,000 - $137,180 (Salary to be determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.)
- This role will be eligible to participate in the annual incentive compensation plan.

- Hybrid On-Site Work Environment: Based in Colorado, this position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site for three (3) or more days per work week (with core collaboration days of Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday). Travel (up to 10%) and local commute between Ball locations and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.
