Position Overview
The Global Indirect Buyer is a key member of the Global Indirect Procurement team, reporting to the Director, Indirect Procurement for MRO/Spare Parts/Tools. You will contribute to Ball’s success by supporting strategic transformation initiatives across global operations. In this role, you will ensure ensures accurate procurement of indirect goods and services essential for maintaining uninterrupted plant production.
Your Key Areas of Responsibility Include:
- Support the Global Indirect Director and Senior Indirect Manager with taxonomy mapping, data gathering, and accurate baseline establishment for indirect spend across plant operations. Will work closely with the Category Managers, suppliers, and site teams to standardize taxonomies, analyze indirect spend, and support procurement programs.
- Drive insights, data alignment, and category understanding to support the company’s transformation initiatives within indirect procurement.
- Taxonomy Development: Collaborate with functional teams to analyze targeted indirect categories and develop standardized taxonomies.
- Map spend data to aligned taxonomies while validating accuracy and completeness.
- Ensure proper spend allocation in coordination with global and regional procurement teams.
- Data Analysis: Break down regional and global costs to identify trends, variances, and patterns within indirect materials (e.g., plastics, chemicals, MRO items); highlight opportunities for cost optimization, supplier synergy, and standardization.
- Support analysts in the creation of spend summaries and category insights.
- Supplier & Plant Coordination: Engage suppliers and plant operations to collect pricing, quantities, site baseline data, and operational requirements.
- Define service level expectations for indirect procurement programs.
- Assist in developing performance criteria and mechanisms for evaluating supplier performance.
- Reporting & Analytics: Generate purchase-order-driven spend reports and dashboards; collaborate with category and data teams to consolidate information.
- Develop actionable insights and provide analytical support for strategic sourcing decisions and transformation initiatives.
- Process Improvement: Identify inefficiencies and propose transformational improvements within targeted indirect categories.
- Support preparation of business cases, including benefit modeling, complexity assessment, and risk evaluation.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Program Management: Support global procurement initiatives through data organization, meeting coordination, timeline management, and presentation development.
- Facilitate alignment across cross-functional and cross-regional stakeholders.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance, Engineering, or equivalent years of experience similar procurement type of position.
- 1 or more years of experience in procurement, indirect purchasing, supply chain, or data analytics that enabled a famiarity with procurement-related policies knowledge, procedures and processes.
- Familiarity with can manufacturing products, practices, terminology.
- Strong analytical skills with experience in spend analytics, cost modeling, or data standardization.
- Proficiency in Excel, data visualization tools, ERP/P2P systems, and reporting tools.
- Coupa, Cituro systems (including JDE & SAP) and procure-to-pay process.
- Demonstrated skills:
- Ability to collaborate across regional and global teams.
- Basic financial and analytical skills, and strong attention to detail.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to influence for positive outcomes.
- Completing routine procurement transactions effectively, efficiently and accurately from requisition to purchase order close in a fast-paced environment.
- Stakeholder management skills; strong interpersonal business relationship building skills.
- Ability to work independently to meet deadlines, prioritize, organize, and multitask.
- Ability to apply sound judgment and adapt to changing circumstances.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with indirect procurement categories such as MRO, packaging, chemicals, or facility services.
- Ball Corporation work experience (intern, contract or full time).
- Experience/involvment in transformation projects or global procurement initiatives.
- Experience rin a high-speed repetitive manufacturing environment.
- Multi-lingual desired (Spanish, Portuguese, German or others).
Compensation & Benefits:
- Hiring Salary Range: $ 66,700 - $93,160 (Salary to be determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.)
- This role will be eligible to participate in the annual incentive compensation plan.
- Hybrid On-Site Work Environment: Based in Colorado, this position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site for three (3) or more days per work week (with core collaboration days of Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday). Travel and local commute between Ball locations and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.
