Position Overview:


As a Freight Payment Coordinator, you are a key member of the Supply Chain Execution team, reporting to the Manager, Logistics.  You will contribute to the success of Ball by being the primary point of contact with carrier and ensuring Ball's freight carriers are paid the correct amount on a timely basis.  You will resolve all invoice discrepancies between what Ball shows as the correct amount and the carrier invoice.

 

Your Key Areas of Responsibility Include: 

 

  • Access Ball's 3rd party payment vendor's system daily to work on all invoices that fall into a discrepancy status. Work with payment vendor on carrier payment status when questions arise.
  • Monitor all Coupa purchase orders (PO’s) that are related to freight invoices and review for correct billing amounts prior to approval. When needed, also access the ERP system to remove charges from freight audit history.
  • Research carrier aging’s and respond to carriers in a timely basis as to what Ball shows as payments made or open payments.
  • Work with procurement team on all rate discrepancies.
  • Work with our Transportation Management company on  approval of all accessorial charges.
  • Assist in research needed for collections agencies or attorneys that reach out regarding  payment.
  • Support preparation of  information and documentation requested by the Tax deparmtent, Value-Added Tax recovery or any government request related to freight payments.

 

 

Required Skills and Experience: 

 

  • High School diploma or equivalent education.
  • 3 or more years’ experience  of invoice auditing.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience doing administrative work with Excel, accessing ERPs and web-based systems.
  • 1 or more years of experience working in a transportation, logistics or similar related role that enabled a working knowledge of the basics of the transportation industry.
  • Demonstrated skills:
    • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint)  or other similar software.
    • Communication: ability to interact in a professional manner with all levels of professional internally and externally (i.e. transportation carriers ).
    • Research and Analysis - able to access multiple sources of data to put together a summary of payments.
    • Math: ability to use basic math to resolve invoice discrepancies. 
    • Organization and work prioritization : multi-tasking - ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects at the same time.

 

Preferred Skills and Experience: 

 

  • Experience working in JD Edwards.
  • Experience with Coupa or Freight payment type of systems (such as Williams & Associates).
  • Experience with a transportation management system.   

 

 Compensation & Benefits

 

  • Hiring Salary Range: $48,500 - $64,470 (Salary to be determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.)
  • This role will be eligible to participate in the annual incentive compensation plan.

  • Hybrid On-Site Work Environment: Based in Colorado, this position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site for three (3) or more days per work week (with core collaboration days of Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday). Travel and local commute between Ball locations and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.
