Positiion Overview:
As the Director of Strategic Marketing, you will be responsible for directing and driving Ball’s overall strategic marketing efforts and creating ongoing Ball “story” in support of commercial customer facing team in North and Central America. You will lead insights efforts (consumer, retail, brand) to ensure ideas and innovation are insights led. You will regularly interface with our Global Insights team, customer innovation and marketing teams and lead connection with the Ball Innovation Team to ensure alignment on critical initiatives and projects. Additionally, you will ensure a market back approach helping the commercial teams link Ball solutions and customer needs.
Your Key Areas of Responsibility:
- Working cross functionally, develop robust Value Proposition and go-to-market plans. Link with strategy teams on broader marketopportunities. Ensure market approach is consistent with specific Play To Win strategies. Responsible for developing and leading the customer marketing strategy of the division to ensure products, services and programs meet the needs of the ever-evolving fast moving consumer goods beverage industry with a strong linkage to our Global Marketing team.
- Provides vision and assists in accelerating customers brand growth by spearheading innovation, pack, price strategy creation with a full understanding of financial requirements by trade channel (large format, club, c-store etc…) strategies with our customer’s marketing and innovation personnel.
- Directs (selects) external agency in the development of content aimed at establishing
- customer brand credibility and trust.
- Fully leverages capabilities with internal marketing/ insights teams to partner with third party research partners to conduct needed research in support of products, services and programs.
- Directs Ball’s trade show participation and execution of Ball and commercial team attendance.
- Supports commercial leads in strategic planning activities, providing insights into the markets in which we compete and the marketing opportunities for our products as well as support in cross functional customer meetings.
- Hire, train and develop Ball’s North American strategic marketing personnel.
- Develops and maintains the customer marketing budget.
- Owns the North & Central American customer experience with Ball, and evaluates and requests tools and capabilities to support that ideal experience.
- Leads analysis of customer/ company Brand strategies through regular reporting (i.e. quarterly report out via dashboard of Coca-Cola results, strategies, Brand activities and implications for aluminium packaging).
Required Experience, Skills and Comptencies:
- Broad training in marketing field acquired through graduate degree level education or work-related experience
- Job related experience for 8 year(s) minimum- fast moving consumer packaging experience preferred
- MBA or graduate degree in related field preferred
- Strong story telling capabilities that communicate concise and clear story to help promote or sell ideas or concepts
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks with very short timelines/deadlines
- Must be able to build strong customer relationships
- Hire, develop and train a team of customer marketing personnel
- Experience in fast moving consumer package industry in customer marketing or marketing (beverage categories preferred) roles
- Experience in revenue growth management to help drive viable price, pack architecture ideas that are linked to our customers retail channel requirements
- Experience with leading marketing & consumer research and converting learnings into actionable consumer insights that support marketing plans & development of new products.
- 40% Travel
Compensation & Benefits:
- Hiring Salary Range: $138,300-$214,820 (Salary to be determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.)
- This role is eligible for relocation benefits.
- This position is based in Colorado and requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site for four (4) or more days per work week (with core collaboration days ofTuesday, Wednesday and Thursday). Travel and local commute between Ball locations and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.
- This role will be eligible to participate in the annual incentive compensation plan.
