Primary Purpose of this Position: 

This position is responsible for Ball's global sustainability data management and reporting thereof. It brings financial reporting discipline to sustainability data and creates robust processes, systems and internal controls to ensure that sustainability disclosures are complete and accurate and pass assurance levels in line with requirements of regulations and stakeholder expectations. It drives the integration of sustainability goals and sustainability-related risks and opportunities into operational business functions and establishes effective relationships with decision-makers across the company.

 

What will you be responsible for? 

  • Data Management:
    • Manages and oversees Ball’s global sustainability data inventories for monthly, quarterly and annual reporting needs
    • Embeds sustainability data into Ball’s strategy and execution through data-driven intel, analysis and modelling
    • Serves as key liaison between IT, GSS, Engineering and other internal stakeholders to develop and implement a sustainability data and technology strategy for effective sustainability data management and reporting
    • Responsible for key aspects of the Sustainability compliance program, including external assurance requirements.
    • Maintains relationships with internal and external auditors to coordinate their review, oversight, and assurance of sustainability metrics and disclosures
    • Builds and maintains effective relationships with Finance, Internal Audit and Internal Controls to ensure accurate and consistent data flows
    • Understands sustainability and financial data to identify synergies between both disciplines
    • Leads collaboration between the Sustainability and Sustainability Engineering teams
    • Leads strategic status meetings with stakeholders to monitor and manage project progress and enhance transparency among attendees.
  • Internal Controls:
    • Establishes and maintains global process documentation and internal controls for all material sustainability metrics, aligning with COSO guidance
    • Implements governance frameworks to manage sustainability-related risks and ensure compliance with mandatory reporting requirements
    • Proactively identifies areas for improvement, and collaborates with stakeholders to design, implement, and ensure operating effectiveness of solutions
    • Assist internal departments in optimizing processes (both systematic and manual), data flows, and controls
    • Responsible for the development and delivery of various internal trainings to communicate requirements and upskill stakeholders around sustainability-related controls
    • Serves as the key liaison between business stakeholders, external/internal audit, and upper management with regards to sustainability-related controls
    • Leads effort with process owners on remediation plans for design or operating effectiveness control deficiencies
  • Reporting:
    • Collaborates and leads cross-functional project teams with Finance, HR, Legal and Sustainability to ensure compliance with mandatory sustainability reporting rules at national and regional levels
    • Monitors the global sustainability reporting landscape to prepare the business for the rapidly evolving reporting requirements
    • Consults on voluntary reporting such as CDP, MSCI, S&P Global, and GRI to ensure consistency in reporting between mandatory and voluntary reporting
    • Advises on and leads elements of global implementation projects (e.g., new ERP implementation, sustainability reporting requirements)
  • People Leader:
    • Leads global sustainability metrics team on matters related to data management and internal controls
    • Supervises and reviews the activities of direct reports, including mentoring their professional development and growth at Ball
    • Successfully manages cross-functional relationships, working across different time zones, cultures and working styles

 

What are we looking for? 

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree business admin, finance, sustainability, or related
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in internal controls
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience sustainability disclosures and reporting
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience sustainability data

Compensation & Benefits:

  • This role will be based in Westmnster, CO headquarters. 
  • Hiring Salary Range: $ 125,600 - 183,610 (Salary to be determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.)
  • This role will be eligible to participate in the annual incentive compensation plan.
