Position Overview:
As a Chemist, you’re a key member of the Quality /Laboratory Services team, reporting to the Manager, Laboratory Services. You will contribute to the success of Ball by supporting growth through determining compatibility of new beverages from existing and prospective customers. You will be responsible to decrease operations costs through technical support of problem-solving activities and mitigate risk through technical support of customer claims.
Your Key Areas of Responsibilities Include:
- Communicate with laboratory service customers to define and resolve problems.
- Select and perform scientific procedures, as required by service requests.
- Apply scientific techniques to interpret and correlate data and recognize discrepancies in results.
- Acts as a technical liaison between contracted laboratories and operating groups or customers.
- May coach other members of chemistry lab in performing scientific investigations.
- Keep abreast of new developments in the chemical field.
- Exercise good judgement in evaluating and selecting details of work to be performed among technical alternatives.
- Serve as liaison and technical support to other disciplines of the laboratory services department, companies, customers, licensees, etc.
- Perform investigations of plant technical problems, research alternative solutions, conceive and implement solutions for the laboratory services department.
- Ensure and maintain safe and healthful working conditions by following safety rules and regulations.
Required Skills and Experience and Education:
- Bachelors degree in Chemistry or other scientific discipline.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience executing bench chemistry.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience conducting maintenance and troubleshooting of analytical instruments.
- Minimum of 3 years’ of technical writing experience
- Demonstrated Skills:
- Ability to work in a laboratory environment, following all safety regulations and operating procedures
- Application of standard chemical techniques in carrying out a sequence of scientific tasks.
- Decision making and problem solving.
- Analysis and interpreting data to make recommendations.
Compensation & Benefits
- Hiring Salary Range: $74,600 - $104,160 (Salary to be determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.)
- This role will be eligible to participate in the annual incentive compensation plan.
- Onsite Work Environment: This position is based in Westminster, CO and requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site 5 days per week. Travel and local commute between Ball locations and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.
