Position Overview:


As the Buyer, Capital Equipment & Construction Services,  you’re a key member of the Global Indirect/Capital Procurement team, reporting to the Director, Indirect/Capital Procurement (NCA Capital).  You will contribute to the success of Ball by providing  strategic support for projects and supplier management.   You will be responsible for guaranteed supply services, while driving lower total cost of ownership and reducing indirect spend for the company. 

 

Your Key Areas of Responsibility Include: 

 

  • Originate required purchasing records and reports.

  • Work with colleagues and management to understand business analysis needs and clearly document requirements for analyses to be developed.

  • Develop category market intelligence for each managed category, such as competitive landscape, market trends, cost component tracking, technology advancement, supplier identification and research, etc., and develop appropriate strategies to position Ball favorably.

  • Perform follow-up activities regarding test materials. 

  • Arrange and provide suppliers with order schedules and/or specification changes on a timely basis and generate appropriate revisions to purchase orders.

  • Coordinate and plan purchasing activities to achieve on schedule and/or timely procurement of assigned items at a minimum cost consistent with required specifications, quality and volume.

  • Consult with company personnel, as required and act as liaison between company personnel and vendor representatives to obtain information and make decisions relative to quality, service, pricing and delivery.

  • Input purchase order information and make revisions,  as required in the procurement system.

  • Advise management of impending vendor failure to fulfill contractual agreements or of any problems that may delay production or performance.

  • Manage internal customer/supplier relationships and implement continuous improvement strategies on an ongoing basis.


Required Skills and Experience: 

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline or equivalent education and experience.

  • Two (2)  or more years of experience in a technical role or procurement/buyer role in an industrial environment.  

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

  • Demonstrated Skills and Knowledge : 

    • Familiarity with capital equipment processes. 

    • Working knowledge of RFP processes 

    • Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills. 

    • Ability to build and maintain professional collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders and suppliers (vendors?—not sure which word you prefer) 

    • Excellent verbal  and written communication skills with the ability to present information in a clear and concise manner to non-technical personnel and to create comprehensive presentations.

    • Effective prioritization skills when faced with high workload. 

 

Preferred Skills and Experience: 

 

  • Experience analyzing  large data sets and recognize patterns in data, information, or events to draw logical conclusions and make recommendations.

  • Experience with advanced digital/AI tools in business intelligence (such as:  Tableau, Qlik, Power BI) and data analysis systems (such as: Alteryx, SAS). 
  • Experience working with ERP and other procurement technology systems (such as JDE, Coupa, etc.) 
  • Experience working with international vendors/suppliers.   

 

 Compensation & Benefits

 

  • Hiring Salary Range: $74,600 - $104,160 (Salary to be determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.)
  • Hybrid On-Site Work Environment: Based in Colorado, this position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site for three (3) or more days per work week (with core collaboration days of Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday). Travel and local commute between Ball locations and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.    
  • This role will be eligible to participate in the annual incentive compensation plan.
