Assistant to the Chief Executive Officer

Role Overview
The Assistant to the CEO is a critical behind-the-scenes partner who upholds Ball’s standards of integrity, collaboration, and excellence while enabling our top leaders to focus on strategic priorities. You will provide high-level executive, operational, and governance support to the Chief Executive Officer, Board of Directors, and Executive Leadership Team. This role serves as a central coordination point for leadership operations, ensuring meetings, communications, travel, and decision-making processes run seamlessly, securely, and without disruption.
Board of Directors & Governance Support
- Coordinate all Board of Directors logistics, including travel (company aircraft and commercial), accommodations, ground transportation, venues, meals, and A/V.
- Manage end-to-end board meeting preparation, including agendas, presentation materials, timelines, and official communications.
- Serve as the primary year-round point of contact for Board members, addressing inquiries, special requests, onboarding, reimbursements, and individual visits.
- Partner with Legal, Finance, Facilities, IT, and Security to ensure governance requirements, confidentiality, safety, and meeting readiness.
- Work with CEO and ELT to ensure proper preparation in meetings and follow up debriefing meetings are conducted.
- Serve as the Chairman of the Board’s official support and contact for any needs throughout the year. Work with the Chairman for coordination of Board Meeting and any additional Board of Director matters that arise.
Executive Leadership Team Operations & Support
- Attend all Executive Leadership Team meetings to support execution, continuity, and follow-through, noting action items, recordings or notes as needed.
- Attend all Ball Foundation meetings to support and determine any executive events, initiatives and coordination, as needed.
- Create agendas and compile, manage, and run presentation materials during ELT meetings.
- Ensure presenters and content owners are present, prepared, and aligned to meeting objectives. Additionally, follow up after meetings with any action items.
- Coordinate recurring leadership rhythms, including monthly and quarterly ELT meetings and Day 10 meetings with Finance.
- Maintain the annual executive meetings and events calendar, including offsites and retreat in coordination with communications team, finance team, and legal team.
CEO Support & Executive Coordination
- Manage the CEO’s complex calendar, meetings, and scheduling priorities, including personal appointments and obligations.
- Oversee CEO email management, prioritization, and follow-up to ensure focus on critical matters – pre-reads or materials provided, travel agendas, summaries etc.
- Coordinate all CEO travel and personal obligations with discretion and confidentiality.
- Manage CEO expense reporting and confidential executive documentation.
- Act as a trusted extension of the CEO in managing information flow and executive priorities.
Technology, Logistics & Real-Time Issue Resolution
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues in real time during Board meetings, ELT meetings, travel, and daily operations.
- Coordinate directly with IT, Facilities, Security, and external partners to address technology, space, access, and logistical challenges.
- Serve as the first point of response during live meetings, ensuring continuity and minimal disruption.
Executive Communication, Trust & Availability
- Demonstrate exceptional written and verbal communication skills across all levels of the organization.
- Maintain a reputation for being highly reachable, responsive, and reliable, including during time-sensitive situations.
- Operate as a trusted and discreet partner, handling confidential information with sound judgment and integrity.
- Serve as a sounding board and source of support for executives and colleagues.
- Demonstrates a disciplined approach to work, anticipating issues and resolving them with composure, while maintaining exceptional accuracy and attention to detail.
Scope & Impact
- Operates with a high degree of autonomy, discretion, and judgment in supporting the CEO, Board, and Executive Leadership Team.
- Serves as a central coordination and escalation point across Legal, Finance, HR, IT, Facilities, and Security.
- Owns real-time problem resolution for executive and governance operations.
- Enables leadership effectiveness by ensuring meetings, communications, and logistics are executed smoothly and professionally.
- Builds trust, continuity, and confidence across leadership through reliability, presence, and judgment.
Qualifications
- Education: High School diploma or equivalent required. Additional education, certifications, or executive support training are a plus.
- Executive Support Experience: Extensive experience supporting senior executives, with demonstrated success supporting a CEO and/or C-suite leaders in a complex, fast-paced environment.
- Board & Governance Exposure: Proven experience supporting Boards of Directors, including coordination of meetings, materials, logistics, and direct interaction with Board members.
- Executive Judgment & Discretion: Exceptional judgment, integrity, and discretion in handling highly confidential information and sensitive executive matters.
- Communication & Presence: Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with the executive presence to interact confidently with Board members, senior leaders, and external stakeholders.
- Operational Excellence: Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to anticipate needs, manage competing priorities, and resolve issues calmly and effectively.
- Technology & Logistics: Proficiency with modern executive productivity tools (Microsoft 365, Teams, virtual meeting platforms) and experience managing complex travel, meetings, and real-time logistics.
- Availability & Reliability: Highly responsive, dependable, and flexible to support time-sensitive executive and governance needs.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Expected Hiring Salary Range: $85,900, - $137,400 (Salary to be determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.)
