Position summary:


The Purchasing and Stores Controller is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of stores, including purchasing, receiving and processing incoming stock and materials, picking and filling orders from stock, managing inventory levels, supervising department employees, and ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the purchasing and stores facilities. The role will deal with suppliers as within their procurement duties and carry out MRP runs to required minimum and maximum stock levels. The position will also involve liaising and working closely with group purchasing on group initiatives and lead improvements to ensure the department meets annual Plant KPI’s

 
Your key responsibilities include:

 

  • Managing the receipt, storage and distribution of goods and ensuring that items are properly recorded and tracked.
  • Planning and coordinating the arrangement of goods within the stores to optimize space utilization and accessibility.
  • Organizing the storage and handling of hazardous materials as required by law and company policies.
  • Overseeing the preparation, packaging, and shipment of products and materials to customers or other facilities.
  • Developing and implementing stores and purchasing policies and procedures to promote efficiency and productivity.
  • Managing and training purchasing and stores facility staff, including scheduling and monitoring performance.
  • Managing and maintaining an optimum inventory of all materials and products within the stores.
  • Collaborating with suppliers, logistics service providers and other stakeholders to improve processes and reduce costs.
  • Generating reports and making recommendations to management on ways to improve warehouse operations.
  • Processing and purchasing of invoices throughout the business departments.

 

Knowledge and experience required:

 

  • Experience in a stores and logistics environment, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of stores processing operations, inventory management and logistics.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of relevant SAP inventory software.
  • Ability to maintain and work to financial budgets.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to develop and implement efficient and effective processes.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and experience in implementing safety protocols.
  • Excellent communication skills.
