Purpose of the position:
As an Automation & Electrical Engineer, the main purpose will be to develop and maintain electrical control systems and components to required specifications. Your work will focus on: management, economy, quality, reliability, safety, sustainability.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing, maintaining, implementing, or improving electrical instruments, facilities, components, equipment products, or systems.
- Evaluates electrical systems, products, components, and applications by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of electricity and materials.
- Ensuring the maximum efficiency from all electrical equipment by means of safe preventative maintenance.
- Co-ordinating the safe repair and maintenance of electrical and electronic equipment within the plant.
- Assisting with the execution of plant engineering projects from start to completion.
- Confirms system's and components' capabilities by designing testing methods; testing properties.
- Develops electrical products by studying customer requirements; researching and testing manufacturing and assembly methods and materials.
- Develops manufacturing processes by designing and modifying equipment for building and assembling electrical components; soliciting observations from operators.
- Assures product quality by designing electrical testing methods; testing finished products and system capabilities.
- Assisting with the controlling of all electrical costs within agreed budget costs.
- Prepares product reports by collecting, analysing, and summarising information and trends.
- Maintaining an adequate inventory of spares for electrical and electronic equipment.
- Compiling budgets for the electrical part of capital projects with assistance from head office engineering department.
- Monitoring and assessing contract work to ensure results are to the required company standards.
- Assist management with planning, directing and managing the operations of the electrical function to ensure maximum efficiency.
- Assist in developing capital project programs for new equipment and major repairs.
- Keeps equipment operational by following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures; requesting repair service.
- Completes projects by training and guiding technicians and apprentices.
Knowledge and experience required:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering degree from an accredited school.
- Previous experience as an electrician in the manufacturing industry.
- Qualified as a professional electrical engineer.
- Proficient in design and calculation software
- Experience in Project Management
- Fluent in English
