Position overview: 

 

The function of an Apprentice Fitter is to work to a planned maintenance schedule while ensuring full support is provided to production 24/7. The role requires the Apprentice Fitter to work within a team environment, liaising with Production and Engineering personnel. The Individual must also have the skills and ability to work alone.  
The Apprentice Fitter must prioritise his workload in conjunction with Lead Fitter, while ensuring that the requirements of the shift’s and projects been undertaken within the plant are met.  Ensuring that all work carried out is in compliance with plant Health and Safety rules. 

 

Key responsibilities include: 

 

  • Work within the plant’s Health and Safety rules at all times.
  • Learn and gain an understanding of the manufacturing process.
  • To become fully qualified in chosen craft Mechanical Automation & Maintenance Fitting.
  • Develop the skills to assist in the plant’s preventative maintenance process.
  • Assist with breakdown repairs and project work.
  • Develop problem solving and fault finding skills.
  • Build and develop team working skills and the ability to interact and work in partnership with other functions.

 

What are we looking for?

 

  • Essential:Completed Phase 2 of Mechanical Automation & Maintenance Fitting Apprenticeship.
  • Previous work experience in chosen area.
  • Ability to become a team player.
  • Demonstrated interest in engineering.
  • Working knowledge of computer systems and databases (Microsoft Office).
  • Have the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Good interpersonal skills and a self-starter.

Work Environment: This role requires full on-site presence at our Waterford plant.​
Hiring Rate: 15.90 EUR gross per hour. 
Bonus Plan: This position is eligible to participate in Ball’s annual incentive compensation program.​
