POSITION: WORKSHOP FRONTEND ENGINEER – 12 hr Days: 4 on 4 off

 

£45,201.09-£50,601.74

 

PURPOSE OF POSITION

The purpose of the  positions is to Provide support for Frontend (Bm/Trimmer/Cuppers/Schneider/WWT /Can Handling/ organising and execution of Conversions  and ancillary equipment).

 

Although the workshop personnel may be asked to assist on the production line, their normal duties are carried out under the instruction of the Maintenance Supervisor with the main aim of servicing the requirements of the manufacturing process and therefore assisting the Plant to meet budget requirements.

 

 

NATURE AND SCOPE

Workshop personnel report directly to the Maintenance Supervisor and the main duties of the role include:

  • The re-refurbishment, preparation and repair of plant spares & equipment i.e. pumps, gearboxes, spindle blocks, jack shafts etc.

 

  • Assisting with Plant breakdowns.

 

  • Assisting with line conversions and size conversions.

 

  • The safe use of tool room/workshop machinery i.e. lathes, grinders, manual millers etc.

 

  • The re-refurbishment, preparation and repair of the tooling used in the manufacturing process.

 

  • Managing spare parts used in the manufacturing process.

 

  • Maintenance, repairs and modifications of machine guards in a safe manner.

 

  • Engineering project work within the plant.

 

  • Ensuring the housekeeping in the workshop and working area is to an acceptable level, and that equipment and machinery in the workshop is safe and operable.

 

  • Use of ancillary equipment such as fork trucks as required providing they are trained and hold a current FLT driving licence.

 

  • To work safely at all times and to immediately report to the supervisor any unsafe acts or conditions.

 

  • Have a comprehensive knowledge of the Environmental Policy and EMS.

 

  • Ensure that proper and safe systems of working and means of avoiding dangerous, or potentially hazardous conditions, are adopted.

 

  • Ensure operational control procedures, regulations, or codes of practice are observed within the plant, and that all registers, records and reports are properly prepared and maintained.

 

  • Check that all plant and equipment within the Workshop are maintained in good condition to prevent leakage’s, fires etc.

 

  • Commit to working maintenance days/conversion days/Overhauls as required by the Plant

 

The above job description is the minimum requirement for this job position.  It is also expected that the person will carry out any task requested by a supervisor or any task needed to improve the general performance of the Plant taking due account of skills and safety.

 

PERSON SPECIFICATION -SOME MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR THESE POSITIONS BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

 

  • Apprenticeship in a Manufacturing Mechanical Engineering discipline.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Working knowledge of Health and Safety work practises.
  • A manufacturing background in a high speed, high volume continuous process.
  • Experience of working in a workshop environment and knowledge of machine shop processes and practices.
  • Experience of preventative and planned maintenance on workshop and production equipment.
  • Have experience of working on some of the following: rollers, pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, shafts, grinders, lathes, manual millers.
  • The ability to assist with breakdowns and line conversions.
  • Can demonstrate the ability to work precisely with strong attention to detail.
  • A team player with strong problem solving and analytical skills, with the ability to work alone under their own initiative.
  • The ability to work well under pressure and organise and prioritise their work load.
  • Ability to read and follow SOPs and complete paperwork accurately and thoroughly.
  • A basic knowledge of quality and hygiene systems would be advantageous.
  • Living in or around Wakefield area (20 mile radius).
