Position overview:
The Shift Manager is responsible for building and leading an effective, cohesive and committed team, which will maintain maximum safety, quality, spoilage and production standards.
The Shift Pattern is 4 on - 4 off, 39 hours per week. Every cycle includes 7 rotations 4 on – 4 off followed by 18 days off ( fixed vacation days included ). This shift pattern covers also 1 training day, 2 maintenance days, and 1 crew day.
Key responsibilities include:
• Being the ambassador of Ball’s culture, driving the right behaviours amongst all plant employees.
• Responsible for the production process as a whole in accordance with the planned performance.
• Responsible for material and tooling supply.
• Ensure job distribution and arrangement within shift.
• Effectively manage all areas of manufacturing (includes safety, quality, production, scrap, personnel issues, etc.)
• Prepare production reports.
• Take part in development and maintenance of the integrated management system.
• Undertake the responsibilities of Quality Control Manager and Mechanical Supervisor during holiday and night shifts.
• Try to isolate the defects that occur during production within possibilities, notify relevant units when required.
• Detect beforehand the problems that can avoid production and ensure them to be solved.
• Ensure cleanness of production areas and machineries, as providing all workers pay attention to this matter.
• Control availability, operable condition and proper use of the working clothes, footwear, individual and collective protective means by the personnel.
What are we looking for?
• Previous experience in a people leading role within manufacturing/industrial, 24/7 environment
• HNC in an Engineering Discipline.
• Problem solving/total quality skills
• Analytical skills to interpret numerical data
• Good understanding of modern lean manufacture technique - SMED, Kaizen 5S, Kanban, Structured Problem Solving, TPM/OEE, SPC, 6 Sigma etc
• Working knowledge of Health and Safety work practises
• Fluency in written and spoken English
