Utilities Engineer

Position overview:

As the Utilities Engineer, you’re a key member of the Plant Engineering Team, reporting to the Mechanical Lead.  You will contribute to the success of Ball by facilitating  smooth operation of can making Line production. you will plan and execute preventive and predictive maintenance on utilities equipment. You will facilitate service engineers from Original Equipment manufacturer to conduct preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance according to AMC’s. You will ensure the facility is maintained (lighting, plumbing, Air conditions, and fire systems) to promote good standards.

You will work on energy conservation, and water harvesting efforts to support the sustainability

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for operation maintenance of fire alarm system, Fire hydrant system, Fire sprinkler system and Foam system in chemical warehouse, FM200 / CO2 system in power station / IT server room. Completes periodical inspection of the system as per schedule (mandatory). Supports Fire department audits.
  • Responsible for daily checks and periodic maintenance of Utility Equipment.
  • Responsible for Planning of and execution of preventive Maintenance activities washer, UVBRC and Utilities. Tracks the maintenance compliance on periodical basis and take corrective actions to bridge the gap.
  • Ensures washer, UVBRC and Utilities Equipment are operated and maintained in optimum condition. Makes action plan / corrective plan and gets the equipment back in optimum operating conditions.
  • Checks the daily operations log book and note down the actions needed and includes in action list to action upon. Checks for daily maintenance compliance, randomly checks if the daily Pm’s are actually done on line and feedback to operating team. Compiles daily PM’s compliance and send out report on periodic basis.
  • Responsible for washer chemical consumption, soluble oil and water consumption in the washer and ancillaries. Tracks and takes corrective actions for deviations.
  • The responsible ancillary equipment for operation and maintenance include washer boiler, coolant system, DI water, RO system, Waste water treatment system, Compressor, vacuum pump and scrap system.
  • Checks and control critical process parameters / indicators in washers, and takes timely actions to highlight and correct it.
  • Responsible for corrective Maintenance on washers / Utilities Equipment, either attend personally or allocates resources, and get the equipment back in operation with least possible downtime.
  • Plan for spare parts. Study the spare parts needed for the Equipment forehand and plan the spares on time. Gives input to Maintenance supervisor / Spare parts stores engineer to set Minimum / maximum of spare parts used in the Equipment. Works closely with spare parts stores to arrange for spare parts.

Experience and skills required:

  • 6 Years’ Experience in Utilities – Maintaining Compressors, Vacuum pumps, Boilers, Cooling towers, Chillers.
  • Operation / maintenance experience in medium scale chemical plants dealing with acidic chemical process with heat exchangers, pumps, stainless steel piping’s etc.
  • Diploma in Chemical engineering / Mechanical Engineering Software knowledge requirements
  • Computer literacy and the ability to generate reports. Ability to read, understand and develop engineering drawings.
