Chemical Process Engineer

Position overview:

As the Chemical Process Engineer you’re a key member of the Plant Engineering Team, reporting to the Mechanical Lead You will contribute to the success of Ball by ensuring optimum operation of Washer, UVBRC, waste water plant and ancillary Equipment in can making line. Will focus on Daily operation, process and maintenance issues of washer, UVBRC, waste water treatment plant and ancillary equipment and take corrective actions on time. You will act as a link between Shift Manager, maintenance supervisor, Quality team, maintenance engineers, Electrical engineers, spare parts stores and co-ordinate all the activities of Maintenance, improvements, TPM, 5’s activities in the area. You will strive hard to achieve area KPI’s through collaboration, teamwork and planning.

 

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for Planning of and execution of preventive Maintenance activities washer, UVBRC and Utilities. Tracks the maintenance compliance on periodical basis and take corrective actions to bridge the gap.
  • Ensures washer, UVBRC and Utilities Equipment are operated and maintained in optimum condition. Makes action plan / corrective plan and gets the equipment back in optimum operating conditions.
  • Checks the daily operations log book and note down the actions needed and includes in action list to action upon. Checks for daily maintenance compliance, randomly checks if the daily Pm’s are actually done on line and feedback to operating team. Compiles daily PM’s compliance and send out report on periodic basis.
  • Responsible for washer chemical consumption, soluble oil and water consumption in the washer and ancillaries. Tracks and takes corrective actions for deviations.
  • The responsible ancillary equipment for operation and maintenance include washer boiler, coolant system, DI water, RO system, Waste water treatment system, Compressor, vacuum pump and scrap system.
  • Checks and control critical process parameters / indicators in washers, and takes timely actions to highlight and correct it.
  • Responsible for corrective Maintenance on washers / Utilities Equipment, either attend personally or allocates resources, and get the equipment back in operation with least possible downtime.
  • Plan for spare parts. Study the spare parts needed for the Equipment forehand and plan the spares on time. Gives input to Maintenance supervisor / Spare parts stores engineer to set Minimum / maximum of spare parts used in the Equipment. Works closely with spare parts stores to arrange for spare parts.
  • Tracks and controls the consumable items consumption (such as filters, oils etc.).
  • Tracks and controls spares used in the equipment. Attends daily engineering meetings and justifies for the spares consumed.

 

Experience and skills required:

  • PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE
  • 6 Years Operation / maintenance experience in medium scale chemical plants dealing with acidic chemical process with heat exchangers, pumps, stainless steel piping’s etc. Surface treatment plant experience can also be considered.
  •  Hands on experience in operation and maintenance of chemical handling Equipment.
  • Experience in Water treatment: DI, RO, and waste water treatment

Experience in chemical labs for testing the quality / parameter for water / chemical contents – fluorides, acids, turbidity etc.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Diploma in Chemical engineering

LANGUAGES REQUIRED

English
