Position summary:
This role supports the Regional Development Engineering team in delivering key business objectives through light weighting and downgauging projects. The position provides technical and project support to improve manufacturing efficiency, product quality, and cost performance across regional plants. The role also contributes to capital projects and offers hands-on engineering support across tooling and production processes within aluminium can manufacturing.
Your responsibilities:
- Support light weighting and downgauging projects to meet engineering and business targets
- Assist in capital projects including machine specifications, tooling design, procurement, and commissioning
- Contribute to improving manufacturing efficiency, quality, and cost reduction initiatives
- Provide technical support to resolve tooling and process-related issues across regional plants
- Use statistical tools such as SPC, Six Sigma, and Minitab for analysis, development, and problem solving
- Support project management activities under supervision, ensuring timelines and objectives are met
- Assist with design modifications and testing of new or improved can designs prior to production trials
- Support mechanical testing and measurement of tooling and products
- Use precision measuring equipment and maintain accurate data and records
- Collaborate with key stakeholders across engineering, production, quality, and procurement
What we’re looking for:
- Apprenticeship or qualification in Manufacturing or Engineering (ONC or equivalent preferred)
- Knowledge of metal forming processes, tooling design, and high-speed manufacturing environments
- Understanding of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles
- Experience with CAD tools such as AutoCAD or similar
- Familiarity with statistical tools such as Minitab or SPC
- Strong organisational, planning, and time management skills
- Good communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams
- Results-driven with a proactive and action-oriented approach
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving capability
- Fluent English required; additional European languages are an advantage
