This role will ideally sit in either Sherbrooke, Canada or Verona, Virginia (USA). We will offer full relocation to either facility.


Primary purpose of the position:
Leads and coordinates all aspects of Operational Risk function (Environment, Health and Safety) for Ball Aerosol Packaging sites in North and Central and South America across the following areas:
- Deployment of the LIFE program and all other BALL EHS initiatives,
- Reporting,
- Fire Safety Property Protection Programme Technical and Project Management Support,
- IT functional/user expert for Ops Risks systems,
- All aspect of Plant Support,
- Training and Development for EHS Managers and Plants,
- Preparation and Maintenance of EHS Standards.
Serves as a subject matter expert, conducts EHS assessments and provides technical assistance, when and where appropriate.

Essential Responsible Areas:
Working in close alignment with Aerosol EHS Director, Aerosol leadership, plant leadership Teams and the respective EHS function in NCA and SA v=beverage regions, Regional Operational Risks Manager:

• Participates in and contributes to the development of the annual EHS plan for the NCA and SA region.
• Implements and deploys annual EHS plan in conjunction with the plant leadership teams and plant EHS managers
• Deploys the LIFE program and all other BALL EHS initiatives
• Works closely with the site EHS Functional teams to provide the necessary support to implement the regional strategy and achieve regional objectives
• Tracks and reports monthly objectives and KPI’s for Operational Risk and provides accurate data to the Corporate team.
• Oversees the Fire and Property Engineering programmes for all European sites and office locations including; relationships with stakeholders, providing technical expertise, project management support and working with FM Global and corporate/sectors to ensure investment is prioritised.
• Supports the business by providing materials and training support in the roll out of World Class Safety and the LIFE program.
• Oversees the Training and development processes for Operational Risks including the development of training materials, identifying relevant training for EHS managers and carrying out Webex training as required.
• Works with sites and finance team to ensure Capex budgets are prioritised, that AFE’s are well prepared and submitted in a timely manner and that costs are being managed in accordance with sector standards.
• Subject matter expert regionally for CSSTARS, functionality, security access rights, plant location hierarchy, reporting requirements, etc.
• Works with corporate to ensure all EHS related IT systems are given adequate support and are fit for purpose.
• Attends at MPMA and MPE meetings in person or Webex to represent the company, in particular on discussions surrounding VOC emissions.
• Provide back-up cover for operational Risk Director as required.


Professional & Education Qualifications:
• EHS Degree or similar
• Engineering background and/or a good technical education is a must preferably to degree level.
      EHS Formal qualification
      (NEBOSH or comparable certification)
• Strong experience in manufacturing environments having worked in a variety of management positions and have a working knowledge of financial procedures.
• EHS Management framework (EHS & Fire Audit Management System) development, and execution across multi-site organisation
• Strong experience in leading, mentoring and coaching Management teams and site EHS Professional group.
• Experience working within industry and (Safety culture change programmes).
• Travel Security Framework Management System. Management of Extreme and High Travel Risk.
• Specific knowledge of standard lean enterprise methodologies and the application of Continuous Improvement in business processes and supplier development.
• Clear track record with specific examples of successful implementation.
• Formal Six Sigma / Lean training to Black Belt level is an advantage
• OHSAS/ISO14001 Management and oversight of multisite systems

• Would ideally be supplemented by formal education in change management or a cultural/behavioural science.
• Experience in industry
• Practical outlook and strong on the ground, uncompromising on high risk standards.
• Good working knowledge of social media platforms such that they can be harnessed for use in the function.
• EHS Management in New Build Green\Brown field, working across different nationalities and cultures.
• Must have a strong understanding and experience of and a real passion for improving safety.
• Extensive experience working within industry and (Safety culture change programmes).
