Position overview:
Senior Accountant will be providing technical support to the accounting team as first point of contact on accounting issues and assisting in the preparation and review of the accounting close and related reporting deliverables. This position will be responsible for the recording, accounting, and analysis of various accounting matters within Beverage North and Central America ledger. You will be operating in a SOX regulated environment by performing detailed reviews and helping to ensure that Beverage North and Central America ledger is free from material misstatements.
Key responsibilities include:
- Completing of key functions as part of the month end closing process, including the preparation and input of journal entries and recording transactions for the various ledgers including intercompany transactions, SG&A expense, derivatives, compensation and benefits, sales accruals, etc.
- Driving for results in the timely preparation and analysis of divisional financial results for Beverage Packaging North & Central America management reporting on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. Assisting in the review and tracking of periodic reporting items including financial reporting package items and cash flow roll forwards
- Understanding and executing against key SOX control activities over the financial close process
- Developing and monitoring procedures and guidelines for the division financial organization which includes the maintenance of the beverage division accounting policies
- Leading divisional projects to better utilize systems and resources in order to drive or support value-add initiatives
- Liaising with other divisions and shared services functions in the performance of accounting responsibilities and in implementing company-wide initiatives
- Analyzing monthly cost statements and explain any variances deemed unusual
- Preparing quarterly account reconciliations
What are we looking for?
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- Job related experience for 3-5 years
- Certifications: CPA preferred
- Ability to analyze and interpret data and make recommendations
- Working knowledge of the following areas: advanced accounting principles, practices, nomenclature, and procedures; cost accounting, JDE or other relevant ERP systems, Essbase, HFM, computer spreadsheets (Excel) and word processing (MS Word) programs
- Ability to apply generally accepted accounting principles, financial concepts, and conditions in the accounting, analysis, and projection of financial information to daily tasks
- Fluency in English
