Primary purpose of the position:

The leader of the press and necking area is responsible for validating the process control of the area, establishing the procedures and instructions required by the operator to ensure the correct performance of the press and necking processes. He/she is also responsible for the maintenance and follow-up of the operating conditions of the machine. He/She  will have control of the monthly tooling consumption as well as the consumables used in the area. He will review and make the necessary action plans to improve the performance of the area in terms of performance, spoilage and support the training process. Perform corrective actions arising from major process deviations as well as respond to investigations of events that impact product quality or customers.

Essential Responsible Areas:

• • Review investigations of industrial accidents or machine failures that impact product, equipment or personnel safety.
  • Keep and improve a housekeeping culture in the process and inside the workshops
  • Maintain records, instructions, manuals and other support material for the area updated and known to all operators.
  • Coordinate activities related to the creation of product specifications ensuring that tooling meets the measurements and tolerances defined for each product.
  • Work with the spare part room to maintain stock of press tooling and necking tooling based on product consumption.
  • Manage the budget of the area and create the records about expenses and consumptions of the areas
  • Propose an AFE projects to increase the performance of the area in terms of safety, quality and productivity
  • Perform engineering analysis according to the affectations shown in the process, where you will evaluate in detail each element involved in the problem, propose a hypothesis of correction and challenge the actions for its correction.
  • Generate and follow up the plan and activities related to the tooling as well as the changes stipulated in the tooling of the daily products.
  • Define objectives and metrics to measure the performance of your direct reports such as press and necking specialists.
  • Participate in product creation with the R&D and Industrialization areas to carry out the relevant testing of new products
  • Maintain close communication with the COE Team to review aspects that affect performance, tooling and operational benchmarks, as well as best practices

  • Propose operator training topics derived from the area's performance as well as evaluate the operators upon arrival at each process, giving follow-up and feedback on the performance of each one together with the group's shift leader.
  • Issue the list of tools for the operating personnel, taking care to maintain the stock of tools, replacement and / or replenishment of the same according to the operations of each process.
  • Maintain adequate stock of all tooling and sizeparts for each format change of the different presses.
  • Create and follow up the preventive maintenance for the equipment inside the workshop, like lathe, milling and grinding machine plus additional equipment related with the maintenance of the tooling

R&D Director, PMO leader, Plant Managers, Plant Process Engineers , Production, Quality, R&D Teams, Supply Chain teams, Planners & Buyers (central and local), Plant Purchasing Managers.

OEM, ODM suppliers, machine shops, laboratories.

Professional & Education Qualification

1. Degree in an Mechanical or Engineering Discipline or Materials Science
2. Minimum of 5 -10 years post qualification experience

Skills

1. Advanced Microsoft Office, Gantt chart, MiniTab, CAD skills
2. Ability to manage projects and budget.
3. Ability to work with numerical analysis
4. Ability to work cross-functionally in a multi-cultural environment
5. Ability to manage a team.
6. Ability to establish good relations with internal and external partners
