Primary Purpose of this Position:
The role forms part of the Manager, Finance Operations leadership team and will contribute by delivering highly effective business partnership to our regional operations teams. In doing so this role will drive financial value in our operating costs being our future fuel for growth.
The role falls in to two critical areas of support:
○ Provide regional / central technical leadership and support to the Operations Finance Leadership team. In doing so act as first point of escalation on problem solving and/or autonomously leading projects or project steps. Performs wide variety of Plant Finance related tasks and financial analyses
○ Provide back-up coverage / additional support to tasks performed by the Plant Finance Supervisors at the manufacturing plants of the region
What will you be responsible for?
• Acts as a trusted business partner to the Operation teams to support decision making and driving financial value in the form of EVA performance improvement
• In support of the above – oversee and manage regional level reporting / consolidation of monthly, quarterly and YTD financial related KPI performance (via standardized Ball Operational Excellence routines)
• Assist the Manager, Finance Operations in the consolidated and interpretation of analysis of the month end financial close results, annual operating plan (AOP) cycle and quarterly reforecasts (3+9, 6+6 & 9+3)
• Assist the Manager, Finance Operation in analysing spending trends to identify opportunities
• Provide back-up coverage / additional support to tasks performed by the Plant Finance Supervisors at the manufacturing plants of the region. These tasks will include the following:
○ Analyse the month end financial close results and communicate results
○ Development of annual operating plan (AOP)
○ Quarterly refresh of annual operating plan (AOP) being the 3+9, 6+6 or 9+3 forecast
○ “In month” monthly refresh of financial forecasts (often referred to as the POV)
○ Management of local capital budgets, project control and reporting, including all local investment proposals (AFE’s)
○ Support finance led manufacturing plant based initiatives to drive EVA performance
○ Support non finance teams education at the manufacturing plant to build strong finance and business acumen
• Acts as first financial point of contact in support of finance led regional, manufacturing plant based or otherwise initiatives to drive EVA performance improvement and standardization of processes
• Support non finance teams education to build strong finance and business acumen around the key principles of how the business run, how we make money and how they can impact EVA each and every day
• Pays attention to detail and is alert to business changes and how they might affect our business performance in the future
• Effectively communicates key summaries, presentations and financial views to management as required
• Reviews assigned financial areas and provides summative and relevant analysis to stakeholders
• Perform ad-hoc analysis or financial modelling at the direction of the Manager, Finance Operations
NOTE: This role is NOT responsible for the accounting close of the financial books or associated journals / transactions. It is also NOT responsible for participating and coordinating physical inventories and reconciliation at manufacturing plant and associated local warehouses (finished goods, spare parts, materials or assets). These are both supported by the appropriate local functional teams locally and a separate accounting / global business services (GBS) function
What are we looking for?
• A minimum of a Bachelors Degree (Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance preferred but not limited to)
• Broad training in a related field usually acquired through college or work-related experience
• Strong negotiation and influencing skills
• Systems literate including strong Excel capability
• Ability to organize, plan, and prioritize
• Ability to apply intensive and diversified evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard finance techniques, procedures, and criteria
• Working knowledge of finance and forecasting principles, general business principles, legal and accounting practices, Economic Value Added (EVA), manufacturing standard costing, financial modelling and generally accepted managerial practices and procedures
• Specific systems experienced preferred within Microsoft suite of applications, ERP systems (SAP, JDE, etc) and Hyperion Essbase (or equivalents)
• Working Manufacturing experience preferred
• English - desirable
