Note: This is a global position, the employee can be based near any of Ball facilities or remote home based office in the United States.
Primary Purpose of this Position:
Leveraging expert technical leadership and drive standardization of external coatings (OV, BV, Ink) across the global network of plants, while deploying change control procedures and continuous improvement methodologies.
What will you be responsible for?
- Develop and implement a cohesive external coatings strategy, standardizing protocols and specifications to optimize costs and enhance product quality in partnership with engineering, procurement, innovation, and our suppliers.
- Establish global standards to include equipment specifications, SOPs, maintenance, operational parameters, troubleshooting methodologies, and defect catalogues. Maintain global best practices associated with external coatings within Ball and our suppliers.
- Act as a technical lead cross-functionally to establish global quality parameters, skills matrices, and training plans.
- Work closely with regional process leads and engineering to support best practice discovery, deployment, and tracking.
- Lead collaboration of regional process leads to problem solve issues of safety, quality, efficiency, waste, and maintenance.
- Develop standardization for external coatings qualification of new external coating suppliers, ensuring alignment with quality standards, regulations and act as a liaison between global and regional and global functions to align procurement decisions.
- Work with innovation on development transition of relavent technology into operations to include new specifications, operating parameters, and necessary standards for our plants and suppliers to deploy globally.
- Establish standardized supplier technical requirements to support procurement for supplier continuous improvement, accountability, and competition.
- Support customer technical discussions relative to external coatings.
What are we looking for?
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or 5-7 years of work related experience.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Can, Ends Manfacturing, Quality, and/or Coatings Support
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Lean manufacturing or world class manufacturing processes.
- Experience in effectively guiding teams, driving initiatives forward, and fostering collaboration across departments and regions
- Organization skills and attention to detail
- Experience in conveying ideas, strategies, and objectives clearly to diverse stakeholders, both internally and externally
Knowledge in the following areas:
- Coating materials, processes, and technologies
- Relevant regulations and standards governing coatings and materials
- Principles and practices of supplier management is vital for optimizing relationships with global suppliers
- Equipment operational, maintenance, and quality standardization
Compensation & Benefits
- Hiring Salary Range: $85,100 - $118,760 (Salary to be determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.)
- This role will be eligible to participate in the annual incentive compensation plan.

- This position is eligible to be REMOTE in the United States, with a home base within a 50-mile radius of a major airport, due to travel requirements (up to 30%).
