Primary Purpose of Position:

Responsible for the integrity of the fixed assets records contained in the fixed asset system for Ball Corporation, wholly owned subsidiaries, and other joint ventures.   Ensures the Ball Packaging Operations fixed asset function meets Ball Corporation’s overall business plans and objectives.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  1. Initiates, reviews, masters, and follows all standard operating procedures (SOPs) for your area of responsibility.
  2. Must follow company policies, procedures, practices, and standards of conduct as outlined in the Ball Corporation manuals.
  3. Coordinates and/or executes regularly scheduled plant fixed asset physical inventory counts in order to maintain consistency and accuracy of the ERP fixed asset module.
  4. Coordinates and executes the tagging of fixed assets, reconciliation and system entry for Ball Corporation locations in order to maintain consistency and accuracy of the ERP fixed asset module.
  5. Coordinates and executes activities associated with the ERP fixed asset module and advises and/or assists in its use as required.
  6. Coordinates and executes the inter-company transfer of assets and reconciles the corresponding journal entries and works with Corporate Tax to ensure they have the proper documentation.
  7. Assists all Ball Packaging Operations facilities with the maintenance of fixed asset records including capitalizations, disposals and transfers.
  8. Monitors surplus equipment program at outside contractor locations.  This program includes equipment sales to outside enterprises, as well as transfers to other Ball locations.
  9. Viewed as a subject matter expert on their accounting processes, and is able to work with Manager to provide assistance and resolution on accounting for new items and questions from multiple departments and levels. Perform data analysis as needed over project or fixed asset data.    
  10. Meets tight deadlines consistently and reliably, and is responsible for communicating any deadlines that may be missed to immediate supervisor in a timely manner.
  11. Accesses, inputs, and retrieves information from the computer, if applicable.
  12. Performs such individual assignments as management may direct.
  13. Establishes and maintains an employee relations climate of trust and confidence that will discourage third party interference.
  14. Establishes and maintains effective work relationships within the department, the division, the group, and the company.  Includes ability to handle stress and to interact with others so as to establish and maintain a positive and productive work environment and minimize personal conflicts.

  17.   18. While the regular working cycle of this position is usually 5 days on (Monday-Friday), this job may include working weekends (Saturday and Sunday); working hours may vary as specified by management.  Incumbent must be able to work overtime on a regular basis and/or be on call as directed by management.

Position Specifications:


  • Broad training in a related professional field usually acquired through college level education and previous experience.
  • Job related experience for 5 years minimum.
  • Working knowledge of the following areas:  fixed asset accounting principles (USGAAP, IFRS), practices, nomenclature and procedures, ERP Fixed Asset Module (SAP preferred), Advanced Excel, and MS Word.
  • Ability to apply intensive and diversified evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard fixed asset techniques, procedures, and criteria.
  • Must be able to handle sensitive related and proprietary information in a confidential manner.
  • Ability to work independently within parameters set by management.
  • Organizational.  Must be able to organize, plan, and prioritize.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data and make recommendations.

Working Conditions:

  • Works in both office and manufacturing environments.
  • This position is exposed to occupational hazards including, but not limited to, high noise levels, physical obstacles, exposure to chemicals, etc.
  • Must wear appropriate safety glasses, hearing protection, clothing, and footwear in appropriate areas and follow safety practices.

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires short-term domestic travel.  (5% travel) on regular basis.
  • This position regularly requires a high degree of mental effort due to considerable interruptions and/or frequent changes of activity or workloads during a typical working day.
