Position overview: 

The Production Manager will lead, plan, direct and manage the manufacturing process, providing the focus and leadership which will build and develop an effective team, which will maintain maximum safety, environmental, quality and production standards. You will assist the Plant Manager with the daily operations of the facility and deputise for them in their absence. 


Key responsibilities include: 

  • Being the ambassador of Ball’s culture, driving the right behaviours amongst all plant employees. 

  • Plan, lead and coordinate the activities of the daily production function.   

  • Responsibility for the control of timely delivery of all the materials and spare parts providing continuous operation of the production. 

  • Take part in development and maintenance of the integrated management system. 

  • Support and develop relations with customers, taking part in negotiations and regular meetings. 

  • Estimate and prepare propositions for production budget, driving cost optimisation. 

  • Establish and maintain safe and healthful working conditions while enforcing safety rules and regulations. Responsibility for creation, control and following up safety system.    

  • Initiates, reviews, masters, and follows all standard operating procedures (SOPs) and working instructions for the area of responsibility.   

  • Maintain awareness and complies with hazardous waste management and other environmental management requirements in the workplace. 

  • Recognize waste streams and minimizes waste generation, through prudent use of materials, proper disposal and segregation. Understands and practices proper accumulation and storage requirements for wastes.  

  • Understand and respond effectively to fire-preventive directions during emergencies by being familiar with emergency procedures, equipment, and systems, as necessary.  Implements contingency plan to the level required by the position. 

  • Compliance with all statutory regulations. 


Experience required:  

  • Previous experience in a people leadership role within a large manufacturing facility. 

  • Engineering background, with relevant degree or qualifications. 

  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and operating in critical 24/7/365 environments. 

  • Strong communication skills across all organisational levels. 

  • Analytical skills and ability to drive outcomes. 

  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
