Position overview:

The Assistant Plant Manager is a high-impact developmental role designed to prepare a high-potential leader for a future Plant Manager position. This role provides strategic exposure, leadership development, and increasing operational ownership while building deep expertise in the can manufacturing process and cross-functional plant operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Learn and develop deep expertise in the can manufacturing process, equipment, and production flow
  • Partner with the Plant Manager to drive plant performance aligned with company goals
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives across production, engineering, quality, and continuous improvement
  • Champion safety, quality, and operational excellence through process improvements
  • Participate in strategic planning, budgeting, and forecasting activities
  • Help manage plant costs and support efficient, cost-effective operations
  • Mentor and develop frontline leaders and supervisors
  • Support employee engagement and a positive, high-performance culture
  • Serve as Acting Plant Manager during absences
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and food safety standards
  • Collaborate with corporate and internal teams to align plant and business priorities
  • Take on increasing leadership responsibility through role rotations and an Individual Development Plan (IDP)

What Are We Looking For?

  • Minimum 4+ years of manufacturing, operational excellence/continuous improvement experience in a dynamic international environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain, or related field (MBA preferred)
  • Capacity to lead a team and build strong employee relations 
  • Strategic thinker who connects day-to-day operations with long-term goals
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to implement practical solutions
  • Financial acumen with exposure to budgets and cost management
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and ability to influence at all levels
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and willing to challenge the status quo
