Position overview:

As a Customer Technical Services Engineer, you are a key member of the Operations team, reporting to the CTS Manager.

You will contribute to the success of Ball by providing technical service and support to our customers, ensuring the best performance of Ball’s products in their filling operations.

Your work will involve leading technical trials, resolving product and process issues, supporting product development, and maintaining strong partnerships with both customers and internal manufacturing teams. This is a customer-facing, hands-on technical role with frequent travel to customer sites across the region.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Providing comprehensive technical service and support to assigned customers, ensuring product performance and satisfaction.
  • Coordinating and implementing filling line trials for new or modified Ball products and for customer product introductions using Ball components.
  • Acting as the first point of contact for quality issues — managing customer communication, coordinating investigations with manufacturing plants, and implementing corrective actions.
  • Assisting in troubleshooting activities on customer filling lines to identify root causes of technical issues using Six Sigma and statistical tools.
  • Coordinating availability and testing of can and end samples for evaluations, ensuring timely reporting and recommendations.
  • Conducting audits of customer facilities to identify opportunities for efficiency, safety, and quality improvements.
  • Delivering training to customers on Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), stress corrosion, seaming, and can handling.
  • Collaborating with Ball’s manufacturing, sales, and quality teams to ensure alignment on customer specifications, standards, and trial results.
  • Supporting the introduction of new customers, products, and production lines through technical validation and data-driven feedback.
  • Preparing and maintaining detailed reports, documentation, and communication for internal and customer stakeholders.

What are we looking for?

  • Technical training or Engineering degree (Mechanical, Chemical, or Industrial preferred).
  • Experience in can/end manufacturing, filling line operations, or technical customer support within a production environment.
  • Knowledge of quality systems, Lean Six Sigma, or statistical analysis tools is desirable.
  • Strong analytical mindset with excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Customer-oriented approach with strong communication, relationship-building, and presentation abilities.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Fluent in English; a second European language is an advantage.
  • Willingness to travel regularly and represent Ball professionally at customer sites.
  • Commitment to Ball’s Core Values and safety culture.
