Position overview:
As the Quality Manager, you are a key member of the plant leadership team, reporting to the Plant Manager. You will contribute to the success of Ball by leading the plant’s quality function, ensuring that all products meet corporate standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations.
You will champion quality culture, maintain and enhance our food safety and hygiene systems, and ensure that continuous improvement practices are embedded across the site. Your leadership will drive quality assurance, compliance, and operational excellence while fostering a collaborative, learning-focused environment.
Your key responsibilities include:
- Leading and managing the plant’s quality systems to ensure compliance with corporate and customer requirements
- Verifying and approving product quality standards and acceptance criteria, ensuring no non-conforming product leaves the facility
- Ensuring production meets established specifications related to structure, hygiene, cleanliness, and packaging integrity
- Overseeing food safety programs and acting as a key member of the Food Safety team
- Ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, and industry quality standards (including ISO 9001 / 14001)
- Driving quality improvement initiatives and preventive actions to enhance product performance and customer satisfaction
- Coordinating and training personnel in quality inspection processes, tools, and standards
- Liaising with customers, suppliers, and external bodies on quality-related topics, including claims and credits
- Building a strong quality culture through coaching, capability development, and proactive problem solving
- Promoting safe working practices for employees and contractors at all times
What are we looking for?
- Degree in Engineering/Technical discipline; postgraduate qualification (MBA/MSc or Chemistry background) is an advantage
- Experience working with quality and environmental systems (ISO 9001, ISO 14001)
- Strong experience in high-speed, high-volume manufacturing environments
- Proven leadership experience with a track record of team development and performance delivery
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing and quality tools (e.g., SMED, Kaizen, 5S, TPM/OEE, SPC, Six Sigma)
- Strong problem-solving capability and continuous improvement mindset
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work with customers, suppliers, and regulatory bodies
- Computer-literacy and ability to manage quality data and systems
- Fluent in English
