Position Summary

 


The Electrical Project Engineer is involved with the design and layout, installation, and commissioning of can making and associated process support equipment. The role supports the design and control of specific project elements under the supervision of a Project Manager, from concept through to completion, including design, budgeting, and resourcing activities. The position holds responsibility for electrical specifications and electrical integration within the project scope, provides project control and status reporting for small to medium scale projects, and delivers process support and technical advice to manufacturing sites within the sector. The role also directly supports Project Managers when working as part of a larger site‑based project team.

 

 

Your Responsibilities

 

  • Oversee assigned project activities from start to completion within areas of electrical expertise, while working flexibly as part of a multi‑disciplinary project team
  • Liaise with Regional Project Managers, Plant Managers, and Plant Engineers to establish full project scope or identify root causes of technical issues
  • Design and approve equipment layouts and generate electrical schematics using company‑standard drawing tools such as AutoCAD
  • Generate electrical specifications and project‑specific criteria, working in conjunction with other members of the Ball Engineering group
  • Liaise with OEMs and contractors to ensure compliance with Ball specifications, standards, and project‑specific requirements
  • Coordinate with engineers, suppliers, and contractors to support the selection of suitable electrical components and systems
  • Liaise with functional teams and relevant local authorities to secure permits, permissions, and design approvals where required
  • Obtain and evaluate competitive quotations from suppliers and contractors to ensure projects remain within approved budgets
  • Participate in the selection of suitably qualified contractors and provide technical guidance during project implementation
  • Prepare and update equipment and electrical specifications and plant‑specific documentation
  • Provide commissioning support, including testing, start‑up, and debugging of equipment or systems until design efficiency is achieved
  • Ensure all drawings, documentation, and software are updated upon project completion and appropriately archived
  • Apply knowledge of CE requirements and regulations specific to electrical installations

 

 

What We’re Looking For

 

  • Broad training in a related engineering field, typically gained through college‑level education, graduate education, or relevant work‑related experience
  • Minimum of 2 years’ related industry experience preferred
  • Knowledge of electrical engineering principles and electrical project execution
  • Experience with AutoCAD for layout and schematic generation
  • PLC programming knowledge
  • Strong computer skills, including the standard Microsoft Office suite
  • Ability to work independently within management‑defined parameters and proactively drive tasks to completion
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross‑functional teams
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and small to medium scale projects simultaneously
  • Professional approach to confidentiality, ethics, and documentation control
  • English language proficiency required
