This role involves shift work on a pattern that covers days, nights and weekend work - 12 hours, please only apply if you can work such a shift pattern 

 

Position overview:

As an Engineer you will play a key part in the first part of the process of forming the can. You will manage machines such as the body makers and cupper, with a focus on Health and Safety, PM compliance and line efficiency.

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Reacting to plant breakdowns and assisting with line conversions, maintenance days, etc.
  • Fault finding and regular preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Ensure all Quality checks and start up sheets are complete, as well as other routine paperwork and checks.
  • Ensure that proper and safe systems of working and means of avoiding dangerous, or potentially hazardous conditions, are adopted.
  • Ensure operational control procedures, regulations, or codes of practice are observed within the plant and that all registers, records and reports are properly prepared and maintained.
  • Assist with training other members of the team, such as mechanics and communicating effectively with the Team Leader
  • Initiate and support lean and improvement initiatives.

 

Experience and skills required:

  • Manufacturing background in a high speed, high volume environment
  • Apprenticeship in a Manufacturing Mechanical Engineering discipline.
  • Experience of preventative and planned maintenance.
  • The ability to assist with breakdowns and line conversions.
  • Sound communication skills, ability to clearly explain processes and interpret data accurately.
  • Experience in fabrication and welding would be advantageous.
  • Flexibility.
  • Team player.
  • Fluent in English, to ensure effective hand overs take place.
