Primary Purpose of the Position:

Perform tasks and provide services to support the plant's production goals, overall business plans and objectives as directed.


Work Schedule:  Required to work assigned Monday-Sunday  12-hour shifts (7am-7pm OR 7pm to 7am) 4 days on and 4 days off;  rotating days to nights weekly .  Working hours may vary as specified by management; must be able to work overtime on a regular basis and/or be on-call as directed by management.


Essential Responsible Areas:

  • Comply with established job safety practices, policies, and procedures as specified in plant and corporate directives for the safe performance of the work assignment.
  • Support and follow the guidelines of the food safety system.
  • Perform duties as required to insure compliance with the plant’s quality standards.
  • Perform routine manual or mechanical production functions necessary to operate the production equipment to meet customer specifications.
  • Stage and maintain packaging materials and follows correct packaging/banding procedures.
  • Input data on a computer terminal to identify, label, and palletize finished products.
  • Conduct inspection of in-process or finished product.
  • Responsible for replenishing supplies required for assigned area.
  • May operate can line briquetter: ensure briquetter is running properly; remove all briquettes from the conveyor, stack briquettes on pallets according to scrap class, and weigh and tag scrap pallets for shipment.
  • May operate end line baler and slug accumulator: remove all bales and loads them onto trailer; remove/replace accumulation boxes for slugs, and weigh and tag accumulation boxes for shipment.
  • May operate can line palletizer and depalletizer.
  • May restack and load empty coil pallets for return to aluminum suppliers.
  • May prepare for shipment returnable drums, totes, and vendor return loads.
  • Perform clean-up, painting, and housekeeping duties.
  • Initiate, review, and follow all standard operating procedures (SOPs) for area of responsibility.
  • May be required to rotate among specific operator assignments within the department as needed and relieve other operators for breaks.
  • Supply and maintain required hand tools.
  • May be required to go customer(s) sites to troubleshoot equipment and/or finished cans.
  • Understand, complete, and maintain environmental documentation for which the individual is trained, or as directed by the emergency coordinator (EC) or Environmental Focal Point/Environmental Manager (EFP/EM)  (i.e., inspections, labeling, record keeping, maintenance of equipment, etc.). Report to the EC, EFP, or EM on the status of assigned responsibilities.
  • Recognize waste stream and minimize waste generation, through prudent use of materials, proper disposal and segregation as directed during training or by the EC, EFP/EM. Understand and practice proper accumulation and storage requirements for wastes.
  • Comply with environmental regulations when using, dispensing, or handling hazardous and non-hazardous materials and wastes.
  • Establish and maintain effective work relationships within the department, the division, the group, and the company. Includes ability to handle stress and to interact with others so as to establish and maintain a positive and productive work environment and minimize personal conflicts.


Position Requirement & Competencies:

  • High School Education or equivalent is required. 
  • 2+ years job experience  in a related environement (such as : manufacturing environment., industrial environment)  
  • Aptitude for mechanics. 
  • Demonstrated ability to apply standard evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard can and end making techniques, procedures, and criteria.
  • Demonstarted ability to learn operating principles of all assigned equipment.
  • Must be able to handle sensitive related and proprietary information in a confidential manner.
  • Follow company policies, procedures, practices, and standards of conduct as outlined in the Ball Corporation manuals.
  • Maintain awareness and complies with hazardous waste management and other environmental management requirements in the workplace by attending scheduled training sessions.
  • Ability to learn nomenclature of all assigned equipment, products, and quality standards.
  • Ability to learn to identify product defects.
  • Proficient in the use of hand and power tools.
  • Ability to operate fork truck and aero lift,  if required.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Must be able to organize, plan, and prioritize.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and to concentrate and pay attention to details.
  • Must have sufficient endurance to perform tasks over long periods of time.
  • Must maintain professional competence, ethical integrity, knowledge, and skills.
  • Working knowledge of the following areas:  nomenclature of all assigned equipment and products.
  • This position is exposed to occupational hazards, including but not limited to, high noise levels, physical obstacles, exposure to chemicals, etc.
  • Must wear appropriate safety glasses, hearing protection, clothing, and footwear in appropriate areas and follow safety practices.
  • Works in confined area(s).


Compensation & Benefits

  • Hiring Hourly Rate: $27.59
  • Other Compensation: This role will be eligible to participate in the annual incentive compensation plan.
