Position overview: 

 

The Procurement Manager for People, Plant Buyers and Categories (typically have a $50M spend, and up to $75M and have 5-20 people in his team), majority of the times located in the plants, provides direction and management for a category management team that consists of Category Managers, Buyers and Analysts that manage, analyse, and buy, goods and services. This role will also own the category management lifecycle process for at least one regional category, including development, implementation, and execution of the detailed category management strategy, identification of opportunities, definition of the annual goals, and will be the primary ownership of the management of the supplier relationship process.  

This role will also work closely with their global counterparts to provide input into global category strategies and ensure that those global strategies are executed to the benefit of the company.

 

Key responsibilities include:

 

  • Provides direction and management support for a Regional Category Management team, including setting goals and ensuring that the team is working toward achievement of those goals.
  • Supports the efforts of the team members with their categories, on the category management lifecycle process, including gathering, analyzing, and reporting on key market intelligence, developing a long-term, multi-year category strategy and development and evaluation of “go to market” strategies.
  • Leverages multiple sources of market intelligence and data to make data-informed decisions.
  • Develops a comprehensive view of the balance between supply and demand and actively monitors market conditions for the team’s categories on an ongoing basis in order to make informed decisions.
  • Has responsibility for the development and evaluation of “go to market” strategies for regional categories and can achieve creative commercial outcomes through negotiation planning and successful execution by directing cross functional teams of stakeholders.
  • Able to work across business units and engage with Global Category teams and leadership to facilitate positive outcomes for the organization.
  • Supports the efforts of the team members with their suppliers, on the performance management process for regional suppliers, including regular business reviews.
  • Proactively reports progress against sourcing goals for the specified period.

 

What are we looking for?

 

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree with master’s degree or advanced certification (e.g., MBA, CPM, CPSM, CPSC, PMP) preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience doing progressively increasing responsibility in Sourcing, Category Management, Supply Chain Management, Finance, Management Consulting, or business-related operations in a global environment.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience with specific category(ies) is required.
  • Demonstrated skill in people leadership and a demonstrated strength and ability to organize and lead dynamic and cohesive teams.
  • Working knowledge of category management, strategic sourcing, and supplier relationship management principles and application.
  • Advanced financial analytical skills and experience in enhancing value through negotiations.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word skills is highly desired.
  • Fluent in both written and spoken English.
