Position overview:
You will help lead Ball’s renewable energy procurement strategy by creating, analysing and delivering renewable energy procurement contracts with a broad range of suppliers and developers. This role is critical to achieve Ball’s renewable energy goals and requires working cross-functionally with internal stakeholders to deliver and adhere to contractual obligations for on-site and off-site renewable energy agreements. You will be Ball’s in-house procurement expert on all renewable energy solutions that deliver Ball’s commercial objectives.
Key responsibilities include:
- Procurement of energy contracts and align with energy market trading horizons.
- Lead renewable energy solutions for Ball across all forms of procurement (onsite, nearsite, offsite).
- Evaluate the market for all types of agreements, suppliers, products and developers.
- Analyse Ball portfolio by working with Sustainability, Engineering, Real Estate, Commercial and Tax to create a robust methodology for prioritizing & filtering sites for the deployment of renewable energy technologies.
- Work with Finance to determine financial evaluation criteria and financing methodologies which can be rolled out regionally.
- Create and lead project teams from across the business to support the successful implementation of Renewable Energy Agreements.
- Prepare, lead and complete Renewable Energy tenders on behalf of Ball.
- Ensure alignment between energy requirements/forecasting and renewable energy solutions.
- Lead contract negotiations in collaboration with various internal teams and drive agreements through to contract execution.
- Lead the financial analysis/modelling and business case justification for selected project opportunities.
- Prepare and submit financial forecasts for existing projects that can be integrated in business operation plans.
- Track, maintain and manage existing project commitments and contractual obligations, ensuring agreements perform as planned and all contractual conditions are met.
- Maintain an international network of energy suppliers/developers/consultants and certificate traders.
- Develop recommended practices to guide risk allocation and risk mitigation.
- Provide guidance to the business on the risk environment of renewable energy agreements.
Experience and skills required:
- An excellent communicator and strategist, with the ability to work cross-functionally and within teams.
- Proactive doer that quickly takes ownership and leads.
- Experience in Renewable Energy transactions with energy suppliers and renewable energy developers.
- Familiar with energy markets and the policy and regulatory landscape across the EMEA region
- Ability to manage complex energy projects and contracts, and deliver results against a fast-paced schedule.
- Knowledge of financial evaluation models, economics, and risks associated with Renewable Energy transactions
- Strong leadership skills, with ability to influence across levels and geographies.
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
