Position overview:
As the Accounting Supervisor, you’re a key member of our Finance team, reporting to the Regional Accounting Manager. You will contribute to the success of Ball by supervising accounting activities, ensuring accuracy and compliance in financial reporting, and acting as the first point of contact for technical accounting matters.
In this role, you will support the month-end close process, lead statutory accounting activities, ensure strong internal controls (including SOX), and manage local tax and reporting obligations. You will also guide and support accounting team members, drive process improvements, and collaborate across functions to ensure alignment with corporate standards and local legislation.
Your key responsibilities include:
- Supporting day-to-day operations and technical accounting queries
- Managing daily accounting activities and coordinating with plant functions and central teams
- Ensuring timely and accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing and reporting
- Leading statutory reporting and supporting external audits in compliance with GAAP and local regulations
- Owning the local balance sheet and ensuring proper control of debtors, creditors, cash flow, and fixed assets
- Coordinating and reviewing local tax filings, VAT compliance, and tax audits
- Monitoring changes in tax and accounting regulations and ensuring full compliance
- Working closely with Global Business Services (AP, AR, Fixed Assets, etc.) to ensure efficient service delivery
- Maintaining and improving internal controls and ensuring SOX compliance
- Driving continuous improvement initiatives, including automation, standardization, and efficiency projects
- Supporting process documentation, procedure updates, and knowledge sharing across the team
What are we looking for?
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, including general ledger and statutory reporting
- Professional certification (CPA or equivalent) preferred
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP, local accounting principles, and tax regulations
- Hands-on experience with ERP systems (JDE or similar), Excel, Essbase, and MS Office
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
- Ability to lead, coach, and support accounting professionals
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional partners
- Proactive and improvement-minded approach, with experience driving process enhancements
