Position overview:

 

As the Lean Specialist you are a key member of the Continuous Improvement team, reporting to the plant manager. You will contribute to the success of Ball by managing and continually improving Economic Value Added (EVA) program and coordinating with the leadership team to identify and prioritize targeted areas of opportunity across the corporation through the execution of multiple waste reduction projects. Developing Lean further into the operations through training and education in general Lean tools, Shingo & Zero Loss (business name for TPM), and for managing major sector impacting improvement projects.

Engage, facilitate and guide plant leadership teams in designing CI approaches that encourage and develop an improvement culture throughout all employee levels within the region.

 

Key responsibilities include:

 

•    Facilitate value stream mapping, business process re-design, kaizen, continuous improvement, lean thinking, cycle time reduction, etc. to simplify and perfect targeted areas.

•    Provide LSS training and leadership of kaizen events, across all levels of the organization.

•    Maintain detailed records of all CI projects.

•    Motivate and direct cross-functional teams to desired results through skillful application of the LSS methodology.

•    Effectively communicate activities and progress of all projects to all levels of plant employees.

•    Involvement in the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) target.

•    Manage Economic Value Added (EVA) through Lean savings, which includes gap analysis, and project selection to ensure savings are achieved and facilitation of support is managed as required.

•    Lead Excellence In Performance (EIP) and similar Lean activities to assist the manufacturing team in achieving their KPIs.

•    Run high impact/high return projects in Manufacturing and non-manufacturing disciplines.

•    Work closely with business leaders to ensure identification and alignment of projects so the EVA program is maintained at all times.

•    Support critical safety and quality initiatives in line with the manufacturing strategy.

•    Deliver training in Lean and process as appropriate to enable functional teams to be actively involved in relevant projects.

 

Experience and skills required:

 

•    Technical qualification to degree level or relevant experience

•    Lean methodologies.

•    Minimum of 2 years’ experience of operating in a manufacturing environment

•    Financial awareness with basic P+L experience

•    Excellent computer literacy skills, specifically Excel and Powerpoint skills

•    Excellent understanding of CI concepts, including, Lean, Six Sigma, Change Management, Project Management and problem solving concepts

•    Fluent English and Spanish.
