Position overview:

As the Tool Room Engineer you provide sufficient tooling to the plant to ensure the production demands are met, both for ordering new and reworking once worn.

This position also provides support for the Workshop Engineers on both the front end and back end, including conversions, shutdowns and maintenance. You will report directly to the Engineering Supervisor.

This is a shift role – 4 on/4 off, days only.

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Ordering and organising materials for the toolroom according to production demand.
  • Liaising with stores to ensure all materials are on time and to spec.
  • Communicating efficiently with all personnel to ensure effective running.
  • Create maintenance schedules and perform repairs on machinery in the toolroom to keep at a high working standard.
  • The refurbishment, preparation and repair of plant tooling, spares & equipment i.e. coater rollers, pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, pinchains, shafts etc.
  • Assisting with plant breakdowns, line conversions and size conversions.
  • The safe use of tool room/workshop machinery i.e. lathes, grinders, manual millers etc.
  • Assisting with the storing, inventory and issuing of tooling used in the manufacturing process.
  • Maintenance, repairs and modifications of machine guards in a safe manner.
  • Engineering project work within the plant.
  • Ensure operational control procedures, regulations, or codes of practice are observed within the plant, and that all registers, records and reports are properly prepared and maintained.
  • Maintaining Plant services in a safe working condition i.e. compressors, boilers and water towers.

 

 

Experience and skills required:

  • Manufacturing or industrial background in a high speed, high volume environment
  • Experience of working in a workshop environment and knowledge of machine shop processes and practices.
  • Experience of preventative and planned maintenance on workshop and production equipment.
  • Have experience of working on some of the following: compressors, boilers, water tanks, rollers, pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, pinchains, shafts, grinders, lathes, manual millers.
  • The ability to assist with breakdowns and line conversions.
  • Strong toolmaking skills.
  • Fluent in English
