Primary Purpose of the Position

  • The technician will work with process engineering to execute technical equipment audits on process equipment used in our can plants in North and Central America.  These audits will be electronically managed and required advance knowledge of our process equipment.  The technician will refurbish sub-assemblies for that same process equipment and work with plant teams to exchange those sub-assemblies on those process equipment as part of a preventative maintenance cycle.  The technician will support emergency breakdowns in our plants as required.  The technician will be capable of working together with fellow technicians and plant personnel to complete these tasks.  The will need to have effective communication to ensure a safe working environment and effective execution of the above mentioned tasks.
  • Provide technical support on all main process equipment in our CAN Plants throughout North and Central America. This is through the refurbishment and assembly of components and equipment in the Wellness Center, which will then be installed in our CAN plants as part of major equipment overhauls. Support plants on urgent repairs, overhauls and problem solving when required. Prepare and train on maintenance procedures to personnel to gain the required level of knowledge on our processes. Support wellness events through installation, commissioning and start-up support of process equipment to ensure projects deliver production efficiencies and spoilage. Generate reports and records on refurbishment of equipment in the Wellness Center and in Plants when on-site.


Essential Responsible Areas:

  • Responsible for maintaining a safe and secure work environment.  Maintains awareness and complies with all environmental and ergonomic process requirements.  Promote a culture of safety, environment, health, quality and 5 S's in the workplace based on constant guidance, valuing people's contributions, encouraging participation in company programs.
  • Unload, inspect, and prepare machinery and sub-assemblies on arrival at Wellness Center.
  • Repair and rebuild of mechanical equipment and sub-assemblies according to manufacturer’s drawings and documentation
  • Travel to CAN Plants to replace and repair equipment and sub-assemblies.
  • Work flexible hours when needed to support breakdowns and overhauls including any portion of a 24-hour day 7 days.
  • Support projects with the install, commission and support start-up of rebuilt/new equipment. Working with suppliers, preparing mechanical assemblies within the Wellness Center or in a Plant to ensure execution of the project within time and cost.
  • Ensure drawings and records are up to date and filed in accordance with policies.
  • Keep up to date on ‘best practices’ from other regions and establish suitability for our regions process equipment.
  • Carry out process equipment audits to ensure equipment is within specification. Generate reports and recommendations and highlight actions for any out-of-specification items.
  • Keep skills up-to-date and work with Wellness Center Manager to ensure adequate training on tools and techniques.
  • Ensure work area and equipment is clean and organized within the Wellness Center or in Plants to avoid accidents and contamination.
  • Comply with all Company policies and procedures, and participate in Company programs for Environment, Health and Safety to meet legal and internal requirements.
  • Maintains the professional competence, ethical integrity, knowledge and skills necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.
  • Must be able to handle sensitive and proprietary information in a confidential manner.

Position Requirement & Competencies:

  • Highschool diploma or GED required
  • Relevant Mechanical / Engineering qualification
  • 3+ years as Maintenance Technician or equivalent in a manufacturing environment
  • Good communication skills
  • MS Office skills.
  • Able to fit bearings, align gears, pulleys and belts to manufacturers drawings.
  • Hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Precision measuring (micrometers, calipers, slip gauges, etc.)
  • Ability to work to high tolerances
  • Read mechanical assembly drawings and work from them.
  • Use of slings, hoists, cranes for lifting equipment
  • Good mechanical troubleshooting and fault finding skills
  • Prepared to respond to essential call-out 24/7



  • 3+ years working in a CAN manufacturing environment overhauling Presses, Decorators and Neckers.
  • Use of lathes, mills and grinding machines
  • Experience in maintenance and repair of CAN manufacturing equipment.
  • Experience of high speed manufacturing


Working Conditions:

  • Works in both office and manufacturing environments.
  • This position is exposed to occupational hazards, including but not limited to, high noise levels, physical obstacles, exposure to chemicals, etc.
  • Must wear appropriate safety glasses, hearing protection, clothing and footwear in appropriate areas and follow safety practices.
  • Works in confined area(s).


Compensation & Benefits

  • Hiring Salary Range: $ 53,900 - 80,730 + Overtime (Salary to be determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.)
  • Other Compensation:   This role will be eligible to participate in the annual incentive compensation plan.
