Primary purpose of the position:
Our future success relies on our ability to attract, develop and retain top talent. Our Internship program is designed for students enrolled in an accredited Univeristy or College who are interested in developing on-the-job skills, experiences and insights that last a lifetime. Over the course of 10 to 12 weeks, you will have opportunities to learn about several areas of our manufacturing operations, network and collaborate with Ball leaders, get involved in challenging project work, and learn what it looks like to be a leader in the organization.
If successful, full-time positions may be available. As a plant-based intern, you will be exposed to key areas of Operations, Production, Quality, and Engineering.
Essential Responsible Areas:
Manufacturing management interns will gain an understanding of manufacturing processes, daily operations and production
standards while working alongside plant leadership with the following responsibilities:
- Assist with the management of production crews, enforce policies and standard operating procedures, ensuring that all team
- members are meeting quality standards while also maintaining safe working conditions.
- Assist with Safety initiatives and projects as assigned.
- Analyze and optimize processes to identify ways to improve quality, spoilage and efficiency, and increase productivity.
- Support the development, implementation, maintenance, and ongoing improvement of the food safety system.
- Work on identified projects in one or more of the following areas: safety, production, spoilage, process improvement, or other
- area in the manufacturing process.
- Identify and develop recommendations to improve and/or innovate processes that result in improved performance, safety, best
- practices and/or cost savings.
- Participate in weekly check-in meetings with members of management.
- Oversee aspects of the day-to-day operations, either for an entire facility or for a specific department.
- Provide production, spoilage, and maintenance records.
- Provide communications and dissemination of information between crew operations and departments as necessary.
- Initiate, review, master, and follow all standard operating procedures (SOPs) for areas of responsibility.
- Comply with established job safety practices, policies and procedures as specified in plant and corporate directives for the
- safe performance of the work assignment.
- Participate and Report Out/Present in other projects/on other work assignments as needed.
Position Requirement & Competencies:
Professional & Education Qualification:
- Currently pursuing and enrolled to complete a degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Operations Management or similar discipline in an accredited University or College.
- Preferred: prior internship or other experience in a manufacturing or operations setting
Skills:
- Strong desire to lead/manage teams
- Demonstrated leadership abilities (e.g. active listening, effective communication, presentations, influence, collaboration) in course work and/or extra-curricular activities/other jobs
- Results oriented, flexible, self-motivated, and able to work in a team environment
- Ability to analyze situations and processes, exercise good judgment and perform assignments with limited direct supervision of manager
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) or equivalent
Knowledge:
- Learning mindset, focus on continuous process improvement
Other Requirements:
- Ability to work in a fast-paced 24/7 manufacturing environment.
- Ability to work anticipated work schedule: including rotating shifts to include nights and weekends, as needed.
- This position is not eligible for visa candidates now or in the future.
Applicants must be currently enrolled at an accredited college or university with Junior or Senior standning and have an anticipated graduation date of no earlier than December 2024.
