Accountant

Position overview

We are looking for a skilled and motivated Accountant to join our Finance – Controllership team in Denmark. In this role, you will take ownership of the accounting and reporting activities for the Danish entity, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across all financial processes. You will collaborate closely with regional and global stakeholders, playing a key role in statutory reporting, audits, tax submissions, and operational excellence. Your key responsibilities include:

• Ensure timely and accurate closing of the entity month end reporting, operating a checklist to ensure completeness
• Ownership of the Cash flow roll forward, reviewing for accuracy of movement disclosure
• Support the financial planning cycle as required to support the FP&A team in Luton
• Oversight of tax submissions (VAT/Intrastat/EC Sales), ensuring submission deadlines are met and payments are made as required
• Own the monthly, quarterly and annual SOX reporting requirements, filing evidence to the required timelines
• Reviewing the balance sheet, driving improvements, and ensuring timely resolution of open items.
• Working with Global Business Services (GBS) to monitor and improve AP/AR processes.
• Coordinate with the business on areas of operational excellence identified during the balance sheet review (including: overdue receivables; freight; packaging)
• Providing support to the Plant Controller, Regional Accounting Manager, and wider finance team on ad-hoc projects and controlling tasks.
• Promoting a strong safety culture and living the Ball values in everyday work.

What are we looking for?

• A degree in Finance or Accounting.
• Proven experience in financial, statutory, and tax reporting, including VAT.
• Strong computer skills, especially Excel; knowledge of ERP systems (SAP is an advantage).
• Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and financial accounting expertise.
• Experience working with outsourced teams; manufacturing background is a plus.
• Proactive, driven, adaptable, and collaborative personality.
• Strong communication skills in Danish and English.
